What do you do when obedience to God leads straight into pain, resistance, and uncertainty?

In this episode of LIVE FREE, Pastors Josh Howerton, Carlos Erazo, and special guest Jonathan Pokluda unpack one of the most powerful leadership chapters in the Bible: Acts 27. From Paul leading through a shipwreck while chained as a prisoner, to spiritual warfare, suffering, revival among Gen Z men, dating, purity, and denominational differences, this conversation is packed with biblical wisdom for men trying to stay faithful in a chaotic world. Why are young men returning to Christianity? How does God use pain to build leaders? And what do you do when the storm you’re in doesn’t make sense? This episode tackles it all with conviction, clarity, and hope.

In this episode, you’ll learn:
• Why obedience cannot be measured by outcomes
• How God uses pain, setbacks, and “shipwrecks” for His purposes
• The difference between spiritual warfare, personal sin, and living in a fallen world
• Why Gen Z men are returning to church and Christianity
• What biblical masculinity actually looks like
• Practical wisdom on dating, purity, and relationships
• How Christians should think about denominations and theological differences
• Why unity matters during spiritual battles

Stand firm. Think biblically. Live free.

I'm nearly 40, an I only recently found Christ last year. I used to be a hardcore atheist/materialist. I was raised completely without religion. I had a spiritual encounter 2 days after my dad died a few years ago, and that sent me on path of exploration that led me to Jesus.
Something is definitely happening, people are flocking back to Jesus.

Atheist most of my life. Was saved last December and baptized this past Easter. Now, I’ve been called to spread the word, and I’m in the early days of figuring out what that ministry will look like. God is good.

My dad came to faith on March 31st at 80 years old the day before he died from cancer. I had tried everything in my power to convince him to surrender to Christ for 13 years. He rejected the Gospel again that day and fell asleep. I prayed that God would reveal Himself undeniably to my dad. He woke up, threw up his hands, and said, "I accept Him!"

I don't know if he saw heaven or hell, but it was ONLY the Spirit of God that can change hearts. Don't stop spreading the seeds! If He got ahold of my dad He can change anyone!

Remember that Satan isn’t above our head, he is not eye to eye. He is under our feet!

Just got back from the grocery store…girl behind the deli. I just kept thinking, just do it. I asked her if there was anything she needed prayer for. Her voice cracked and said, “Yes, strength…”. Just do it. The harvest is ripe 💞

I’m 70 years old and always considered myself as a Christian but just recently surrendered myself to Christ. I found that I had a “me do it” attitude, prideful. I always thought old guys became “churchy” because they were “cramming for the test” as they got towards the end of the road. Then I realized, I can’t do this on my own. I began praying for patience, not to be resentful, to be a better man, help me with my weakness for lust and protect me from demonic influences. God heard my prayers and came into my heart. My marriage became saved, I’m calmer and thankful for each day He gives me.
Thank you for your lessons guys.

I’m an exJW who handed their disassociation letter this last year due to serious research into the Bible and reading. Our God is up to something! He’s opening the eyes of many to prepare us for what’s to come and I believe that with all my heart. I don’t know exactly what or when, but I thank God for His grace and helping me to escape the cult everyday trying to become the man that God desires me to become

I can attest to the younger crowd. Our youngest son who turns 22 Wednesday walked into work yesterday carrying his Bible. He’s 6’4” sandy blonde blue eyes slim build. Handsome is the adjective. He and a few of his friends are getting deeper in the Word. We raised them with Jesus in our home. Not perfect. Not faithful church goers. He and his sister got baptized last year. Their dad and I are so very proud of them. Bryce Crawford is a big movement for these young men too. There is a movement with our young men and they will lead their families back to Him. I believe this with all my heart.

Demons can take advantage of ailments. I had sleep paralysis. It is horrible. And during a few of these, I feel demons tried to overtake me and possess me. By the grace of God, I got out of it and I haven't had it happen for about 10 years. It started when i was 13. I am 70 and following Jesus, reading the Bible. Praise the Lord.

Come on Josh, Carlos & Jonathan!! Give some credit to Charlie Kirk!! He went to college campuses & preached the gospel!! I believe that’s why satan martyred him!! Too many young men were not only listening, but they answered!! I just pray that they are being taught about discipleship!! LOVED THE PODCAST!! PLEASE do another one with Jonathan!! God bless you all!!!! 🙏🏼🌈❤️🕊🐾

Gen Z white males as far as the US have been brought up around demonic indoctrination in the schools. They have been told they are to blame forneverything and God sets them free. Bryce Crawford is a big reason for this. We may have lost Charlie, but Bryce is taking over where he left off. My son is one of them. I wish I'd have found Jesus as early as he did. Because he is fully bought into Jesus. I wish I could say I had something to do with it. God gets all the glory.

I got saved 16 months ago and life is beautiful!! Praise God and give Him all of the glory!!!! Sure things can get hard but He's with me through it all.

My Testimony
I was a broken, vile, and hateful woman. Drowning in a 41-year methamphetamine addiction. The detrimental grief over losing my son to a fentanyl overdose was violently taking me under. BUT GOD!!! He healed my addiction and lifted that grief that was overwhelming and sinking me. He healed my BPD, clinical Paranoia, PTSD, depression, anxiety, and bi-polar. It is nothing that I did!!! He did everything!!! All I had to do was lay it down at his feet. Crying out in my darkest hour. Shouting my confession and asking for forgiveness. Jesus was right there holding me and giving me a heart of flesh. In one year, I look nothing like I did a year ago, both within and on the outward physical appearance. I pray if you haven't cried out that you do. He's not controlling and will not force you. Yet, he's right there waiting for you to bring it to him. Jesus simply says "come".
I was born into an extremely dysfunctional, violent, and cruel home. Only to leave it for a world that offered the same. Molested, savagely beaten, guns put to my head-in my mouth-and pistol whipped, gang raped, sold, and I knew Jesus was love he just didn't love me. Until he showed me what deep and restoring forgiveness is. What pure holy love is. Today, I can look back with compassion, understanding, and gratitude. I am praying for my abusers and seeing their pain and suffering. I will never fear that which was created I only fear my Creator. Knowing that the fear of my God is where wisdom and knowledge begin. I'm grateful in knowing my story and my life bring God glory. It's all about him, for only he is worthy!!!

I’ve prayed for my Dad for a few years that he would be saved. He started attending Church a couple of months ago. God can change people. When we say oh no that person won’t. We’re not giving up on them as much as we are giving up on God. Keep praying , continue to invite and carry yourself as you should, people are watching. Set a good example of a Christian
