My childhood game right here. My brother bought it for me for my birthday :). Still love it to this day

Ever notice how in the first time at Needle Man's stage, you walk past the big metool miniboss half-buried in the ground?

1) The bee enemies at 6:23 and 48:55, instead of plowing through and taking damage, move far enough left until the bee disappears, then proceed right and it'll be gone and won't re-spawn.

2) A tip at 35:42: simply park Rush Jet to the lower left of the weapon refill, jump off to the right, then slide left back onto Rush Jet while collecting the refill. The weapon power won't drop while you're off Rush, and there's zero risk of accidentally falling to your death.

In this house we like our beer cold, our coffee hot and by God do we always make sure to imitate the Boss Beaters intro every time it happens.

That was a sweet bounce shot to take out Needle Man

As a kid, I actually used a cassette recorder to record the tracks from this game; my absolute favorite music from the series!

Mega Man 3 just cuts straight to the main title with black background and epic music. I love it!

Not just my favorite Mega Man game, but my favorite game of all time. Thanks for covering this one, Professor.

I know I mentioned Captain N before, but one of their last episodes was based on this game's plot. But for whatever reason, the script has Mega Man reveal that the Shadow Blade was his one non-powered weapon (other than the Mega Buster, of course). By thrn, the series had deteriorated in animation quality thanks to NBC slashing their cartoon budget and the episode runtimes were also cut in half and paired with Super Mario World. Things were so bad by then that they only released seven new Captain N oinstallment and used the reast of the time for four cut-down versions of earlier episodes and the first Zelda crossover split up over two weeks. If I've said any of this before, I'm sorry.

Still my favorite Mega Man game (not a popular opinion, but it is what it is).
1:00:48 and the classic moonwalk! Also, how did I NEVER notice Wily's pod above the tree at the end? Unbelievable.
Favorite robot? Possibly Spark Man. Music? That is far harder... in a pinch, I'd possibly give it to Gemini Man simply because I love the harmony in the "chorus" section but you can't go wrong with any of them. Definitely think the boss musics (and the last Wily stage musics) are more tense than anything in the series so far.

I had the Snake Man theme on my computer that I listened to so many times when I was younger, that tune is in my soul

There's a good explanation of Top Man's stage: It's supposed to be a giant solar powered greenhouse. This is why entire level is made of plants under glass. Those glowing, honeycomb things in the background are solar panels. It's a futuristic greenhouse designed to provide max sunlight exposure for as long as possible. The not-so=obvious link to Top Man is that it does this by slowly spinning as the sun crosses the sky during the day.

8:50 MM2 Dr. Wily stage 1 music is peak Mega Man music

Fluff not mentioning the most notorious glitch of holding right on the second controller was a bit of a letdown.

@joek5882 1 year ago

Yes the music is amazing. Isn't it interesting that when it comes to these older games we aren't listening to a "music file".

The game program is essentially telling the NES hardware to "make this sound/noise at this time in this sequence"...which we interpret at music.

It really is a stunning feat of programming and "composing". Another great video professor! 😎
