I heard you mention O.L. as zero ohm's. Which couldn't be further from the truth. It stands for Open Loop I.E. infinite resistance or a wire break. 0 ohms would be a dead short. 😉

A floppy front end becomes an issue as age increases.

I would be tempted to stick a resistor in the wiring and pretend all is well 😜

Like the Sierra, the MKIII Granada suffered badly of premature rusting crumple zones in the front and they became with compliance and void bushes and mounts for both, a almost uniform failure point in MoT's here in the UK.   They weren't easy to get at either and there was always rumour when repaired the garage would not take too much effort in protecting for rust so in a few years it was back in for the same problem.

Little blue tablets in the coolant reservoir should sort out any floppiness.

I feel for you Seppo, I have just had an ABS problem on my C3 Picasso, took a bit of finding but now £135 later (just for parts) it is soled hope yours is cheaper.

Sometimes the wire breaks internally where it flexes with suspension movement and the sensor itself is OK.  In that case you can splice a new cable near the sensor and seal the joint very carefully.

While you wait for the part to arrive, you could try and hack in a 1kOhm resistor, see if the error clears, why not. And also, even though I'm sure you wouldn't, but you perhaps could even sneak it past the MOT check should you be in a hurry :-D

Am I right in thinking the anti roll bar doubbles as a radius arm? I test drove one of these back in the day and wondered why it was mushy to drive compared to my parents ( very early) Pug 405 diesel estate. Which was pin sharp.

In terms of the fault diagnostic, I’m no expert in electronics, but OL means open loop, I.e., there’s no electrical connection between the two connectors, that can be either from a break in the wire or a faulty sensor or a bad connection at the connectors.

I think if you had measured continuity between the connector under the seat and the plug under the dash. That should reveal any broken wires, as they would show up as OL. Also, if you measured OL across the sensor at the plug under the seat, you’d be pretty sure it was a bad sensor.

You could put a 1k Ohm resistor in the circuit to see if that fixes the ABS light. That way, you know that it is the only issue. Maybe? 🤔
