There's a reason Japanese households stay calm about money while everyone else stresses. It's a method and honestly, most people have never even heard of it.

I put all of it in this book. It's not for everyone, but if keeping your home, your land, and your savings in order matters to you, you're going to want this one. grab your copy at https://thejapanesemethod.com

When I was planning my new kitchen, the kitchen designer was surprised that I wanted more drawer units than cupboards.  The drawer units (different depths) have proved more useful and practical than the cupboards. I’m pleased with my decision!

Nothing lives in a dark- my favorite ❤😊

Happy that i already use these secrets without thinking of it

Love the tip in rule one. I think if everybody tried it they would immediately know where to make a significant change that would streamline their workflow in the kitchen.

As an American please do not assume that all Americans possess the same home hygienic habits.  Personally, without yet traveling to your country, my admiration and appreciation for the Japanese culture along with your way of life has prompted me to consider moving to Kanazawa.   Have watched enough of your videos and unbeknownst to me I do incorporate many of the Japanese habits but not all of them.  On a budget as I'm retired yet I use hand held travel Japanese bidet, clean kitchen with H2O2 and have a small getabako next to the door.  Our homes are not designed as you Japanese homes are.  Was only allowed to bathe in one inch of water as a child which had me wondering 'what is the purpose of bathing in one inch of dirty water'.  It took years before I learned how to enjoy a long leisurely bath.  Shower was not to be used, ever. I now shower prior to a bath, then ensure the tub has been thoroughly cleaned, and then enjoy my bath - which is work as I am disabled and still work. Then the H2O2 comes out as I do not want mold on the white tile or calking and yes I own a squeegee.  My washcloth and towel for drying are used only once.  Pajamas are worn only once.  Sheets changed every Friday....should I continue?  Thank you for your videos as I acquired additional hygiene habits and God yes the toilet and kitchen sponges are nasty but I clean the toilet every other day and close the lid prior to watching your video.  Not going to bore you with the different types of sponges I own..... cutting them in half saves money. Oh, remember that France taught the world culture and Japan hygiene

I have 3 pots, 1 large frying pan I use like a wok, 1 small for frying eggs, bacon etc. 1 slow cooker for meats and 1 dutch cooker cast iron that can cook, bake etc & can be used for camping or indoor cooking. 1 microwave, 1 toaster 2 slices, 1 kettle. That's all I need to use.

Funny, my Granddaughter (18) is always telling me we have too many lids.  My fridge is too big and I'm too short to even see what's in the back of the top shelf.  I like the idea of keeping that top shelf empty and will try that.

I love that...the appliance you buy but don't use every day isn't an appliance, it's a tenant that doesn't pay rent. So funny.

For me, I store my pots and lids together (lids turned upside down) so the smaller pot can store on top of the one below.

I wouldn't buy a rice cooker, instead I have an instant pot. In effect, it is a rice cooker, pressure cooker, and slow cooker all in one pot. I also use it to make yoghurt and "bake" in. It frees up a lot of counter or cupboard space.

Another excellent video with the proper use of AI to tell the story rather than produce slop.

FYI the book is not about clutter management or systems for house arrangement to optimize daily routines. It is a butlers book of cleaning strategies. If you want recipes and methods for cleaning specific surfaces and materials this is a good book. If you are looking for methods to make your daily routines more streamlined, or to set up your environment to reduce friction or decision fatigue - this is not the thing for you.

Many of these are great ideas. Some of us Americans do some of these already. I really do not like the absolute statements like, "Nobody in America has ever been told..." when referring to how to use a fridge and freezer. Maybe you just don't know too many Americans?

Genius ideas for kitchens. I am in owe about those inventive storage trolleys, organizers and containers. The advice is on point for British homes, as they are the smallest in Europe. Because houses and apartments are sold by the number of bedrooms (on the continent by square meters), they present irresistible temptation to squeeze another bedroom without storage space, and bump the price for extra 20K. 💸

Amazing video. Nevermind American homes, plenty of Australian homes have these exact same issues. 🇦🇺

17:54 Three numbers: 1. Interior depth of cabinets 2. Height of shelves 3. Width of drawers.
1. Most kitchens have 2 depths of cabinets; the bottom is always larger to provide a counter and working space, while the top cabinet is smaller to allow a person to more easily use the counter created by the lower cabinets.

2. Most shelves in cabinets are adjustable. The adjustments are usually in the range ot 1 to 1.5 inches.
3. Because kitchens are usually designed around the space they are going into, many times there are more than one width and depth of drawers.

Pedantic but meant with the friendliest of intentions - cubic footage, I think, is American for 'volume'. The rest of the world says "volume", and "area", as opposed to "square footage". As a non-US, Imperial unit user, it sounds suuuuper strange.

Great video though! Awesome info to give us ideas for our build. Thank you!

Totally true about the cabinets vs drawers.....drawers are superior.
i have a weird old kitchen that standard add in slide outs often don't fit,  and i can't afford to re model it.
so everything goes into plastic baskets that can be pulled out of the cupboard...cheap makeshift "faux" drawers! lol

I love Japanese order. In America if you rent you cannot pick out what cabinets. You have to do with what you get. Also recently YouTuber “Chani in Japan” just remodeled her kitchen. It is beautiful. Go see it. Also we have different gear, because we cook different cultural meals.
