My unity gain goes to 11

I'm always fiddling with this at church!!! Tell the rest don't touch!!!

I am new to all this technical stuff. With all the videos I've watched on how to use a mixing console, this one ACTUALLY teaches how to set a board. Thank you!

I feel smarter for watching this. Thanks Scott.

Initial setup just got a lot easier for those paying attention to this video. Great info!

Tried watching div videos for literal years now. Watched maybe 50 videos on mixing, gain staging etc. Not a single one actually showed how. They all talk and talk about general stuff, not actually teaching anythibg you didn't already know.. i like this! Thanks

If I knew this 30 years ago I might be a rock star now, or maybe not

At last gain on a mixer explained very well
Thanks you’ve helped a great deal

This popped up the exact week I was trying to learn this. Thanks!

I've been singing for many years now and learned this - I point the mic at my mouth - but not my mouth at the mic. I sing over it - past it - to eliminate puffing sounds. I hold the mic from one to two inches from my mouth. This method works great.

Thank you for this. I'm all new to this and since we are just starting out with new instruments in my church, I'm the one in the best position to control and manage the sound. So your information on the basics is really very much appreciated from this end.

Celine is kinda good at what she does though lol Love your vids, the shared knowledge, and refreshing entertainment Scott! Rock on!

yeah! last year I found a fender runaway pedal, I lost that one to bidding.this year there was another, somebody bought it right underneath me . I'm still in search of, never going give up.

Thank you! This should be required learning!

thank you.  good teaching!

I appreciate the tip about revisiting the gain after doing the basic eq

Thank you so much for this video! I’ve watched several videos on gain structure, but everyone seems to just talk through the process, and talk over people’s heads. I needed someone to “show” me. I’m a visual learner, and you showed me what everyone else was just explaining in way too complicated terms. Now, I know what I need to do, so I can go back, and set my PA up properly. Thank you!

Yeah man, this is great, and the reason after doing the band for 20 + years, we do our own sound,  why is it, that 80% of genuine sound techs think they know everything, but really, they don't know squat..I've been in many gigs where the soundman is in charge, and God help you if you offer any suggestions that will make you sound better. They get instantly offended, then they go all in on jacking up your sound. I realize they can work with alot of new bands and they may not have the experience to know what they may need, or not need. But a band that's been playing consistently for the last 24 years, just might know the difference of at least a few frequencies. I know, I like alot of lows, and low mids in my vox. And alot of mids, and high mids in my guitar, and I like to lower mids in my bass, and have plenty of lows and highs as I like a good thick roundwound slappy basstone, but I play with a pick.
not my fingers, and, no muddy ass flatwounds.. can you please do a full tutorial on setting up an entire band from startup through mixing, to breakdown, and loadout. Alot of people just don't realize how hard the work is to be in a working band. A 12hr day can lead to 3 or 4 hours of travel, 2hrs of settup, 2 hours of breakdown, and loadout. All this for a 2 to  4 hr show. I'm sometimes exhausted by the time it's showtime, but then after the first note, I'm all into til the end. Then, breakdown, and loadout sucks.

.

I am really enjoying all the new videos, don’t know what you are talking about a lot of the time but none the less, enjoyable! Happy to hear you regularly again Dr. Groovy.

Thanks for sharing this. Ive been wanting to learn how to use a mixing board for a long time.
