From my perspective WHY would you want an original GT 40……you could never drive it down to the shops for fear of someone crashing in to it, and insurance to drive it would be very expensive. I had a friend who wanted to drive his Ferrari about 150 miles to and from the pebble beach concourse …. The insurance for just that trip was in excess of $30,000 🙄😋 give me a well done kit car any day over that fap.

For those wondering, the AK40 (GT40) is £152,000 (built for you)

Thanks for this video. I live in northern Scotland and it’s hard to get down to the show, so the excellent detailed coverage and interviews are really informative and appreciated.

Thanks for the great video Kev, very much appreciated. Very nice to see Mr Dutton, I (like so many)I owned a Dutton , bright yellow with a 2LTR Pinto, I still wished I had it. I used to go to the Kit Car show at Newark in the late 80's bought my first bottle of MER polish there (only place you could find it back then) The cars look far better built and finished now. Dave 🙂

57:40 Met Gerry Hawkridge when I was running The Abergavenny Arms (which my sister then ran for a while) in Frant near where he lived in the '80's. Stratos replica in a shed at the back!

Glad to see Quantum there. I had an Xtreem with a 2 litre Ford Duratec. I believe my car was Quantum's demonstrator circa 2005, and had just about every performance part you could imagine. It was an absolute rocket. I only sold it because skin cancers rule out open cars for me. Mine had also been built for someone very tall, and I had to move the pedal box back before I could drive it comfortably.

In my opinion the kit cars today have the benefit of modern technology, so they are far superior to the originals, at a fraction of the price. Also, a car I find missing at this show is the Superlite SLC and GTR. Superlite has no shortage in the performance category.
