Tom Hanks, Geena Davis and Madonna star in this major-league comedy from the team that brought you Big. Hanks stars as Jimmy Dugan, a washed-up ballplayer whose big league days are over. Hired to coach in the All-American Girls Baseball League of 1943, while the male pros are at war, Dugan finds himself drawn back into the game by the heart and heroics of his all-girl team. Jon Lovitz adds a scene-stealing cameo as the sarcastic scout who recruits Dottie Hinson (Geena Davis), the baseball dolly with a Babe Ruth swing. Teammates Madonna, Lori Petty and Rosie O'Donnell round out the roster, taking the team to the World Series. Based on the true story of the pioneering women who blazed the trail, on the fields and off, for generations of athletes.

Geena to Tom: "So how come you're not in the Army?"

Tom: "That's a different movie."

Dottie reminded Jimmy of himself and how he played baseball, also he was impressed by her talent in the game. They also have similar personalities.

These little moments were good in the movie.

Tom Hanks deserved an Oscar nomination for his role in this movie. By this point, he was slowly transitioning to serious drama, which he showed, a year later, with PHILADELPHIA…

Geena is so pretty in this movie. Did great acting. She is an actual real athlete and I think competed in archery and nearly made the Olympic team. She got interested in archery and trained intensely. She is near about 6 feet tall.

Geena Davis and Tom Hanks have such an easy, natural rapport, that you believe in Dottie and Jimmy's platonic friendship. Shame that neither cameoed in the Amazon Prime series.

I'm glad they kept their friendship plutonic. Dottie was obviously very committed to her husband. If both had been single there might have been something there, but Jimmy respected Dottie's boundaries and her as a person.

I loved Dottie and Jimmy’s relationship.

I think they were a great duo, but I am glad they dropped the romance subplot and just made them friends. There was no way to make Jimmy and Dottie work. She either cheats on her husband WHO IS AT WAR or he dies and the relationship feels weird cause she seemingly jumps at the first guy after finding out. I guess they could have just re-worked Dottie and made her single. But I think we need more platonic male/female relationships in media. This movie is about Dottie and Kit's relationship and women sports. Don't need a dumb romance plot hanging over it.
