I would love to see a repairability score! Consumers are wising up and we would like our products to last instead of being throw away consumables. Thats would be great information to add to all the other vacuum wars test scores

As much as I love your reviews and have been following you for years, please talk about customer service reliability and parts replacement.

I've bought my shark apex vacuum years ago due to your awesome review. However, when it comes to ordering replacement parts the Shark company has failed in this aspect with customer service support. This has been a frustration since then and I'm weary of wanting to buy a new vacuum from Shark.

I believe your loyal followers, including myself, would appreciate your insight regarding these overlooked categories. Thank you so much for your product reviews all these years!!!!

Massive improvement! I just bought this vacuum at Costco to replace my 10-year-old shark vacuum that we loved. The old vacuum was the $200 model and we thought it was great.
The amount of fine dirt this new vacuum picked up out of the carpet was shocking. Buy this one. And don't worry about the extra weight. It was easy to push. The self-propelled feature does most of the work. A+

One of the most user repairable big box store vacuums on the market is Ridgid wet and dry vacs. I can easily pull my HD1400 apart to clean it and parts are available for purchase, right down to the motor fan. It is a bit noisy, being a wet and dry vac but can spin a turbo cat so fast on a 2.5" hose with a 2.5" to 1.25" cone style reducer it's like running a regular electric nozzle. That being said, with a little bit of ingenuity you can put an electric nozzle on it as well as I have cleaned our little theatre building with it and a central vacuum kit. Also, you can buy a HEPA kit for it that has a cyclonic ring bag and matching cartridge filter and it would take months to fill the bag. There are smaller units available if you want that instead like the 5 gallon that car detailers seem to like. Since it's a wet and dry vac, it also takes standard 2.5", 1 7/8" and 1.25" end of hose accessories (sometimes you have to buy the right adapters or a smaller diameter hose for this to work but it's still fairly inexpensive and wet and dry vacs are typically more durable motor wise than most conventional residential vacuums utilizing a true bypass motor.

Thanks to Vacuum Wars, I own both the PowerDetect Upright as well as the PowerDetect Clean and Empty cordless version as well as the (EX301) CarpetXpert carpet cleaner and the 3-in-1 Steam Mop for the ultimate lineup. Can't say our house has ever been cleaner or easier to keep clean. Thank you immensely for your reviews, you are guiding so many people to making the best choices they can in floor care.

I bought my Apex based on your review of it, then the Vertex came out... I STILL have my apex but it largely sits unused because I've also bought robot vacuums based on your reviews. Now the Apex is primarily used for the staircase. My Apex STILL hasn't ever had a hair wrap issue, even with 6 (previously 7) furry animals (RIP Yukina), and 3 people with long hair in the house. I literally loan it out to friends that need to deep clean their apartments during move outs or spring cleanings.

This PowerDetect looks absolutely INSANE. Thank you for making the awesome video, as always!

I used my first shark when i was in Australia for a couple of years. I was cleaning a friends flat for them and they had one, but they had never cleaned out the filter and seperator so they said it just wasnt working. I used our vacuum first, and it died half way through so i took a look at the navigator and got it cleaned and was just blown away. It pulled so much more dirt. Since then ive got the duo pet something and its ever more awesome. I swear that the new features for most vacuums are just gimmicky, but shark seems to just knock it out of the park with innovation.

Next time you test out carpet cleaners I think a good test to add if you could find a way would be removing cigarette tar/odor. I know that some people try to clean out cigarette smells or stains when selling a car or a home so I think this could be a very practical application.

Sharks the best for upright bag less vacuums, and they came out with an impressive carpet cleaner. I just used the CarpetXpert machine and it was very nice, easy to clean.. CONS: cable is too short, the dirty tank doesn’t hold that much, it is incredibly heavy with the water tank… but once i started to use it, wow my house smells so nice lol!!

I haven’t tried the Deep clean hose attachments… just spent the day cleaning my rugs for the house.

The best vacuum mop (in my opinion) is the Narwal S10 pro (S20 just came out, it is smarter with stronger suction but I’m good for now since I use the Narwal for maintenance as opposed to deep cleaning).

Seriously thank you for always giving us an honest scoop on the most current vacuums. Seems silly but I thoroughly enjoy watching vacs battle it out and I’ve used your recommendations when picking out my sticks vacs and haven’t been disappointed once! So far my favorite has been the Shark cordless stratos which you highly recommended and not once has it become clogged with two long haired dogs: Husky mix and a mini Aussie which both leave tons of hair and have killed my dyson and previous stick vacs. You were also spot on with the damn Ryobi stick vac which I found out the hard way as it couldn’t handle the dogs hair and it’s power just didn’t help itself to be a useful vac

Thanks for a great review! Can you please answer the following questions:
How do you remove the brush for cleaning, and is this easy or difficult to do? Thanks in advance.

I attempted to purchase a shark powerdetect from shark directly from the official website. It was on sale at the time, plus I found a coupon code making what was a vacuum with additional accessories. They apparently did not like that as they canceled the order 3 times. I spoke with them on the phone on recording (I have my home phone wired for recording, and yes I informed them I was recording before speaking) they admitting the problem was on their end and refused to fix it and repeatedly suggested purchasing it at retail price, which makes this a bait and switch scenario. currently have a BBB complaint filed and also spoke to the "manager" and informed them if they do not have someone in corporate with enough power to honor the advertised price which they hit my bank account for and then reversed the charge I would be taking my complaint to the FTC with audio recordings included as a bait and switch scam. They said they would have someone reach out by Monday, 3/31. I will give them until Wednesday, 4/2, just to be reasonable.

Glad to see they put the light back on the handle like the Apex. The stratos did not have it and it drove me nuts lol.

You should do a versus powerdetect vs Stratos

@Blvck0ne 11 months ago

Thinking about grabbing this to replace my Dyson which has started making a strange noise. This review definitely helped move the needle in the direction of doing it. Thanks.

As other people have said, I would love to have a rating for how easy it fix and for expense of replacing parts. And for the quality of parts. For example the power cord on the Stratos. Heaven for bid, you run over it with the vacuum or it gets caught on an edge. The cord does not stand up to any damage. I have three Stratos, and all of the cords have tears in them. Older vacuum cords use to last much longer.

I would also love to see a rating for how easy it to clean the vacuum. I clean vacation rentals, so our vacuums are put through the ringer. One huge issue I have with the Stratos, is it is impossible to clean. The older Sharks, had better removable covers to get to the rollers and clean things out. The Stratos, only allows you access to one of the rollers. And if you need to take the vacuum apart for whatever reason, the screws are not your typical screws. They are a star shape screw but they also have a rod sticking up, so you can't use a normal star bit.

I got halfway through the video and I’m already sold🤣

@RC-117 1 year ago

Yes, thank you for sharing this video. I just bought this vacuum today. I returned it because I bought another cheaper shark but I won this one with the power lift away and the other one didn’t even have a headlight. I own an Aerus Lux Guardian platinum, but it’s so dated, and the L shaped brush role has never changed, that vacuum the whole stop working everything is starting to break and it was not worth the money to get it fixed so this vacuum is the perfect placement, the suction power is crazy and I like the technology of how it senses when the clean or how much power to use for certain areas, the LED light is awesome, to be able to see those hiding crumbs on your kitchen floors, etc. This vacuum is heavy, but it is such durable quality. I used it tonight and I couldn’t be happier with it. I should’ve been my research before buying that other cheap shark. This one is great and I highly recommend it. That’s the problem with Electrolux is their vacuums are great, but they’re outdated and they don’t ever change anything. I’ve always heard good things about shark vacuums.

I just bought this Shark vacuum at Costco. My advice buy at Costco, they have a 2 year return policy. My Dyson kept dying on me. Soo I went with Shark. It's really powerful and light weight. The cord is long enough, I can vacuum 3 rooms with changing outlets.
