I have traveled much of Italy Britaly and you’re absolutely right. It’s a nightmare just to be a tourist what more to live there. I’m so happy living in a quiet historic village in Piedmont. It’s a blessing even during summers. Lovely place and I have the vineyards around and I’m happy. This was a great video.

Thank you so much for telling it like it really is. That's so valuable, because too often people are being misled or manipulated for commercial reasons. Tourism is a curse for those kind of places. Same with Venice. It's beautiful and dreadful at the same time.

Mobility + Hills, oh and all those stairs to climb.  On weekends, between the cars and motorbikes - Amalfi Coast line becomes a F1 GrandPrix Race Track.

I’ve just came back from Salerno. I visited Amalfi and Positano in one day and was absolutely exhausted by trying to navigate the crowds and traffic in those narrow paths. Beautiful views but one day was enough for me. And we talking October here not peak holiday months.

I arrived in Salerno by train from Rome, 2 years ago to stay in Ravello!  I, immediately, thought to myself that Salerno was a lovely town before I even boarded the bus to take to Ravello!  You are, absolutely, spot on about the positives and negatives of the spectacular coastal towns of the Amalfi Coast, Ms.Britaly!  The bus ride from Salerno to Ravello, although exciting and beautiful, was so harrowing and potentially dangerous with all of the sharp curves and heights above the sea below; that I came to the same conclusion about the Amalfi before I even arrived in Ravello for my holiday.  Great place to visit but could not and would not ever attempt to live in Ravello or Positano, year round!  I ended up buying a house in San Piero Patti, Sicily; which I am currently "fixing up" to be a "vacation home"!  I love visiting Ravello, Sorrento and Positano, just as you say.

I think Claire, that anyone enjoys tourists blocking your walk to work or your drive to work. It could be a total nightmare. I am used to it because I live in a similar area and it gets crowded in certain months with tourists and international business people that come to the trade exhibitions. It is cock a  block!!!!! I have studied the scenic routes that none of those people take even though those business people were a part of my work. When that happened I just had to take it. But I avoided the car and picked up my clients by train and tram in a city where cars are banned from the centre which is where all the foreign clients wish to be…. Pick them up and go the car by bus or tram and then use the car for convenience for our business meetings with the producers. A kind of a nightmare made easier. But nothing against tourists at all. They are a part of the economy. It is what  makes the place live. Amalfi costa of course would not be the ideal place. I would avoid it to live there. No reason to. Unless you are part of that world with a shop or some tourist attraction activity. People not from here don’t understand. But we all find a just solution where we live and where we work that become 2 different locations. Good episode again Claire….!

Have you ever considered living in the Cilento area?

I live in Hawaii and have we the same issues except we have  year round tourism in Hawaii .not seasonal

Great video! Thank you ❤
Do you have any videos on where you would recommend to live in a coastal community?

Did she say she lived in the region, moved away, moved back but wouldn’t choose to live there? But you do live there. I’m confused. 🤷‍♀️

Once you live in a place it will change it will not become romantic anymore even if you have all the money in the world or can afford convenience.. I used to dream about USA as a kid and now that I’m here I don’t think it is same as when I was I child..

04:40 Hope government puts a stop 🛑 in all that nonsense like in Spain.🇪🇸
