Surprised that he didn't mention Jerry West, because the Celtics always had tremendous respect for him.

Red was a basketball genius, and Boston sorely misses him.

Bill Russell said in the seventies I he had one person to take the last shot. Walt Frazier

I choose Bob Cousey. Simply because he too changed the game. He was the one who introduced behind the back dribbling, no look passing, etc. The flashing athleticism that Magic and Jordan perfected.

I saw prime Larry Bird in Atlanta in 86. I got some pictures of him. It was the game they made the great comeback in the 2nd half.😊

Elgin Baylor should be on that list. Red saw Elgin before Elgin's injuries. He scored 61 against the Celtics in the NBA Finals.

Big O, Wilt, Bird, Magic, Russell

Auerbach was born in 1917, so if he was 89 years old when he made this video the year is 2006. That rules out players from the last twenty years, but where’s Jordan?

When Russell played - Wilt had more talent than he did.
As time has passed it's clear that a lot of centers had talent over Russell.
But that is not what Russell brought to the game. Bill Russell brought to the Celtics what Alexander the Great brought to the battlefield. He made a team into a machine, and the longer he played the better he got at tuning and tweaking that machine into whatever it took to win against any other team.
Do not tell me he could not play today, he would have average numbers, only play for one team and win more rings than anyone.

The only applicable comparison is Tom Brady, some guys just win.

Interesting video, but obviously doctored, edited. Would've liked to have seen the original Charlie Rose interview - if there in fact was one. If the audio was in fact when Red was 89, then it would have been 2006, just before he died. Not sure he would've been this lucid then. Everyone should be suspicious of the majority of what you see on the internet- whether it's YouTube or not.
