seeing that they used ai in the tiktak chat segment for the paintings, i wouldn't be surprised if chatgpt planned out the season for production as well lmao

Production picked the wrong favorites, panicked when they weren’t delivering, and overcorrected in the 2nd half of the season.

the only storyline worth caring about the entire season was the reception to discord's walk; from hated and laughed at to now becoming iconic and celebrated.

I heard the queens weren’t separated and isolated between episodes. So they all got to hang out and bond every night. Which allowed them to resolve on screen issues OFF screen. Also made them very friendly with each other which resulted in the first ever RuPaul’s Best Friends Race 😅

Re: the Briar Blush fainting thing, to anyone who has fainted before, Briar's faint is clearly real, it's incredibly hard to go limp without instinctively using your arms to cushion your fall

I actually wanna see more friendship storyline. How they support each other. Because it’s important, especially in terms of eliminations. Jane Don’t elimination for example. Editors didn’t show how she was helping queens and we know it only thanks to spilled tea.

discord not even being in the top for the snatch game was the thing that made me stop caring about this season, it was the moment i knew that nothing really matters and that production was just gonna do...whatever they wanted. and then myki won the makeover over juicy and jane was in the bottom for like, no real reason and i just kinda checked out

One challenge I missed this season was the ball. We instead got single design challenged, so we couldn't see what the queens could've showcased in 2 looks from home and 1 made on set. It just felt a bit odd to leave it out of the season.

I HATE to call rigga morris but they knew exactly what they were doing throwing 2 improv challenges right before the finale. so frustrating and BORING

Whoever was picking the music this season needs to be fired. A lot of the lip syncs were horrible.

The cast was good, but the challenges and the judging was a choice tho

I feel like production was really gunning for an underdog win this season. Myki was voted lowest in Rate-a-Queen, the other queens underestimated Darlene consistently, Nini had a bad edit while socializing with the other queens, Kenya and Juicy persisting despite consecutive bottom placements, Discord vs. everybody. Jane is the only queen in the top half of the cast without an underdog edit this season, and production put her in the bottom twice for basically no reason.

Joella should've come back as a mattress mutated monster with quilted tentacles and veneered fangs

No one's talking about no rumix for the top 4/3? I miss it

The challenges, the order, and the judging. This cast has so much to offer, and still were doing good in the challenges (Snatch Game, while not being top tier, is definitely in the top half. And even my least favorite makeovers (Jane/Myki) were more generic than bad. But having two more improv challenges right at the end over a Ball, commercial, or any branding challenge was so frustrating.

I think the problem is forced stories. Get some hungry and talented queens with attitude. There’s no shortage. And let them compete and allow drama to unfold organically.

I want to give Juicy and Discord major props for being the only queens who jumped to comfort/check on Briar and extra for juicy knowing to rub her chest because that IS used to wake people up from fainting

This is the first season I've seen where the winner had basically zero presence until the midway point. It's actually the first American season where the winner doesn't get a win in the first five episodes. It just feels like production had no idea what they wanted to do with this season until the last few episodes. It also feels like we missed a lot. Like we never saw Nini being too harsh to the queens, but basically every time she was on screen, the other queens were on her neck. Same with how Darlene was heartbroken and sobbing when Jane left, but we barely saw them interact. The cast deserved a lot better. I want to see them all on All Stars eventually.

Season 18 turned into a "RuPaul's Best Friend Race" and I don't think production thought that would happen because they were so different, but they ended up complimenting each other. The other issue is the fans. There's so much hate directed at them that they don't want to be in any drama. This year the advice to the winner from other winners was "after you win, stay of social media for a week cause the hate is intense." So if we want to complain about lack or drama and boldness, it's the "fans" more than anything else.
