Not sure why Timeline made the decision to omit Lincoln's time as a vampire slayer.

I've been obsessed with the civil war every since i found a Confederate cannonball in the woods by my house in Kentucky at the age of 8. Then i discovered that the battle of Mill Springs was fought not even a mile from my house and the Confederates had camped on the very ground i lived on.

Good on the cameramen for getting this all on film for future generations 🙏

The American Civil war is amazingly interesting in so many ways, it's an the example of a new nation going through the necessary changes needed to keep a nation as opposed to breaking up into smaller nations as is illustrated all across European history.

These are 1980s reenactments during 125th when the hobby swelled to huge numbers.Great time to be there.

My history teacher has set homework for my class to watch this AND make notes on it. Help

McClellan is like Herbert Sobel in "Band of Brothers".  Great at training, just not a real battlefield leader.  As Lincoln said of him, "If he can’t fight himself, he excels in making others ready to fight.”

Nothin' beats the back in the day reenactors

I'm 63, as a child visited Gettysburg, to this day one of the most memorable events in my life. The subject is always interesting for me, I can hear these stories told over & over! 🫡

This takes me back to middle school history class.  I love these documentaries.  They’re so informative.  History isn’t always glamorous but that doesn’t mean we need to be ashamed of it.

The content is exactly what I needed I really appreciate the effort.

I love you Timeline History; you're everything that the History Channel and the BBC are not (but shouod be).

All I know is that I am sure I had relatives on both sides, all sons of The American Revolution.

Those Soldiers each side are Truly the definition of Disciplined.

Love the happy music and fun lucky tone.

Great Re-enactments here. The guy they picked to play Braxton Bragg is incredibly a look alike. Unfortunately, my Great Great Uncle from Texas had the misfortune of serving under Bragg and he didn’t like it. My Uncle actually lived until 1929

Very well done. Images are perfectly timed to narration and there's no freezing on one for extended pauses.

To those wondering the band that played for Lincoln and liberty too in this documentary it’s the 97th Regimental string band if you were looking

The effort put into making this documentary is quite remarkable.

This is why I love old documentaries. It's straight to the facts. Not preachy or pushing 1 single narrative and doesn't leave out important details. I had no idea the Emancipation Proclamation primarily had anything to do with foreign powers involvement. People always give it that single brushstroke of it being done out of kindness when in reality as stated in the video, it was worthless without a victory and more so strategy that was genius but could have blown up if not for certain events that favored the North while they were being defeated for quite some time.
