Whittling A Caricature Head- Single Knife Carving

Jonathan Creason Woodcarving

I find grabbing a knife and seeing what I can create from a single block of wood one of the most satisfying things. You’re strictly limited by your own imagination and skill, and this practice is an incredible skill builder. If you haven’t done so before, grab a knife and see what you’re able to turn out.

For me its probably one of the most if not the most helpful video to me.

I really liked your head tutorial over several that I have viewed recently. Seems everybody has a u tube carving channel lately.
, which is fine. Easy to see you have more experience than most and I appreciate your down to earth attitude. Thank you much!

I really like this type of video, I learn more every time I watch it. Thank you so much. I am a knife only style whittler and I struggle a lot with the head and face. Listening to your comments as you carve has really helped me to progress. I love the expression on this particular carving. Now for some more practice.

I swear that block looks 1 1/2" x 1 1/2"
Fantastic tutorial as usual!

There you go I learn something every time. I have hardly begun to watch and your explanation about the head being forward of the back of the shoulder is something I have never heard referred to before. Thanks now on to watch the rest of the video.

Jonathan as usual this is a kick ass video. I like the basic ones a lot although I like the really detailed ones you do also! I guess its all in where your learning curve is in this venture. Keep up the great work!! Thank you

I know there's some other similar out there, but this was just what I was looking for, something on the head and face with some good commentary / instruction. I've been spoon carving a long time but wanting to try some figures and animals. I have all the carving tools I need. I've subscribed. Thank you.
