Are you Team x-m5 or Team x-t30 III?

Incredible how professional and real your reviews feel. Personally I'd pick the X-M5 over the X-T30III Thanks for the clean and detailed comparison Richard Wong!

I have the X-M5 and love its small form factor, but as an X-T5 owner I'd consider the X-T30 III as well for the screen and the physical dials. The more physical dials you have, the better the experience and also the more control you retain when switching between custom profiles, because the dial will always override a stored exposure mode & exposure compensation.

Just sold Xt30ii and go for Xm5 instead. never regret.

Overheating test results are interesting.

From that top down view. If you switched the lenses they were be on an equal linear line.

Hey Richard, I actually owned XM-5 for 6 months, loved that little thing, but unlike you, this was my only camera, and realized I need evf. switched to XT-30 iii now and paired with 23 f2.8 pancake and love it so far. I would say for people who own only 1 camera go for XT-30 iii. love your content, cheers !!

Hello! I really enjoyed your video, and it helped me decide which one to buy. What SD card is best for the XM5? I'll mainly use it for taking photos. I might shoot some videos, but not very often. It's better to get one that works well for both.

it depends on the grip and weight difference.  I recently bought the x m5 as wanted a back up camera lightweight . However i found the grip at the thumb and fingers wasnt very good and the front command dial could be touched in error by the finger nearest my thumb. I have now bought a thumb grip and may buy a finger grip as well which adds weight to the camera maybe partly begating any potential weight difference between the x m5 and the x t30 3 assuming the x t 30 has a better grip . i also have the fujifilm x s10 and as luck would have it it uses the same battery the 126 as the fujifilm x m5 so is an extra battery if just take one of the fujis out and about. I have yet to take out for photos as yet as only got a few days ago and its been raining a lot. i also found i had trouble putting the sd card in when the battery was already in  so was better putting the sd card in first.  The off on switch had a very small indicator to show you if is on or off and my camera was all black so is hard to see. Even a small white indicator dot may have helped.

I have the xm5 for me it's a bit difficult to understand how the Fujifilm autofocus is working, the menu is quite difficult

Thanks for this excellent comparison Richard! I own the X-T3 and an X-A1 (the latter mostly for street photography). I wanted a replacement for the X-A1 and this video helped me a lot between the two choices that I had, after a lot of research. Based on this comparison I went for the X-M5, mostly due to its simulations dial, video modes, and form factor. I'll be running the X-M5 and my X-T3 to Tanzania and Zanzibar in a few weeks, for both street photography, wild life photography, and Nature photography. Thanks for helping me with the dilemma I had.

just got my X-M5 few days ago and i'm in love with it!

When the X-M5 was first announced but had not yet arrived on sale, I looked at the older X-T30 II. But the IBIS swayed my choice and I went with the X-S20. Nowadays I do have an X-M5, I like its compact size, especially for indoor use, but lack of viewfinder makes it hard to use outdoors on a bright sunny day. Maybe if I was buying new today I'd be looking also at X-T50 and X-E5, both have IBIS though at an increased cost. I still think the X-S20 is a good choice today, especially with the larger-capacity battery and decent handgrip.

Went with the xm5

The X-M5 looks great, but I enjoy shooting thru the viewfinder, so I'd go with the X-T30 III. The 13-33 mm lens is really attractive tho.

Love how insightful this video is! I'm thinking about getting a new camera for my birthday. I only have been using an old Spotmatic SP all my life and it looks like X-T30 iii is the more similar one in terms of mechanical photography. Although I must say that I've also been thinking about getting M-X5 because it's much closer to my price point, but I have not much use for videos and I'm honestly intimidated by spot metering, so X-T30 iii it is! 😅

XT30 III

Both camara price difference is 20K INR is XT 30 III is costlier .. is it worth spending that just for view finder/flash and better grip ?

What both of them wheather seal ?

Went with an X-M5 a couple of months ago. I fitted a SmallRig L plate, which is similar to the one in this video. I added a tiny NiYien Senseflow gyro, which fits to the hot shoe mount, so I have very good stabilisation without IBIS or bulky gimbal. I also picked up the detachable cooling fan, as I live in a hot place! These days, size matters and my set-up is tiny. And you can pick up a removable shade for the screen in bright sun.
