If you want more Mario Kart you can checkout my video on Double Dash! > https://youtu.be/_MgUCfojjHk

It's interesting that all the Mario Kart games that came after basically followed the Mario Kart DS formula rather than the Double Dash formula from the Game cube. I think Nintendo knew that the DS game was the best one they had made

I used to play Mario Kart DS every morning before I went to school. It holds a special place in my heart.

Learning snaking in one player was so hyped as a kid for me. I was no where near good enough to play against people online who snaked everywhere all the time, but against the cpu I could do it JUST enough to feel like a pro

Hands down the best Nintendo DS game. You just couldn't have a DS without having this game as well.

Mario Kart DS is the pinnacle of Mario Kart.  Simple.  Streamlined.  Perfect mechanical design.  Tons of extras to play along with battle modes.  Actual reward for skill expression & manual drifting.  A marvelously focused track selection.  No hyper-ADHD explosion of features, track elements, and distractions.  Reasonable yet competitive AI.  It's simply perfect.

this game is a big reason why every time i’ve gotten a new nintendo console since it’s gotta come with mario kart. the game that made me feel closest to this game was Mario kart 8

This was the second video game I’ve ever played. I’ll never forget the Christmas where I got both a DS and a Wii. While we tried setting up the Wii, I helped myself to the DS with Mario bros and kart. Truly an unforgettable experience.

Wow, this video was a lot different than I expected and really made me think about MKDS a little more critically. So many people say, “The game is good for single player because there is a mission mode”. That’s very true, but you put in a lot more nuance than usually is put in gaming discourse, especially in a series like Mario Kart where installments feel interchangeable in terms of the core gameplay.

This game holds a special place in my heart. It was my go to for every road trip. Download play with my cousins and the kids on the school bus of elementary school. Elite nitro track selection. Mission mode was fun and exclusive to DS (not counting World’s free roam missions). Recently for the switch 2’s midnight release I brought my 3DS and Mario kart DS with me. Surprisingly, a lot of people also brought their DS so we all started playing download play and it really took me back to my childhood.

I remember my older brother buying me this game when I was 4. I played the hell out of it. Got 1st place on all cups all difficulties even mirror mode. Of course, who could forget the mission mode. One of my favorite games of all time. Thank you for bringing me back to the good old days with this video.

playing this game with my friends in like kindergarten - 2nd grade was such a memorable experience. there was that feature where only 1 player needed the game and then everyone else can play with you is what we’d rely on most times and it made the game so much fun to play with everyone that just had a ds. it was such an amazing feature that i can’t think most other big AAA had, this game will always have such a big place in my heart

This was my first video game ever so seeing you glaze it for 12 minutes makes my inner child very happy! :D

As a filipino who grew up in Europe, Mario Kart DS is like many others here my first game in general. I played (and still play to this day) so much that I become so competitive and getting interested into Mario Kart DS Speedrunning...

Bro Luigi in the vacuum car was my go to, thanks for the memory!

Genuinely, when I went travelling around New Zealand Mario Kart DS was the only game I played. I brought a few other DS cartridges but this game kept me happy on all the long drives, long flights, and rainy days.

3:15 Little bear mentioned!!! I absolutely loved that show, and I agree, I adored how chill and cozy it was ❤✨

0:01 Not even more than a second into the video and omg the menu music… so nostalgic, I paused and hummed the entire thing while starting my laundry 😭 MKDS has the most memorable soundtrack istg

Little hint for DS, items come in defense and offense sets if gathered like 5 seconds apart. So if you get a green in first shell then the person behind you gets a red shell if gathered 5 seconds since you grabbed it.

I watched this video on Friday, and I picked up my 3ds and took it with me whilst I was away this weekend. I never really played MKDS growing up since I mainly played MKWII, but I really enjoyed playing MKDS, and it's a great game for anyone looking to play a quick game on the go
