Why can pain be pleasurable? Where does pleasure come from pain, humiliation, and control? How did the terms "sadism" and "masochism" come about? Where does normality end and violence begin?
Vasily Beinarovich's new lecture on the Dostoevsky Lecture Hall channel is for those who want to understand one of the most mysterious aspects of human nature. We'll explore how sadism and masochism develop, what happens in the brain during pain and pleasure, why some patterns become ingrained throughout life, and how modern psychology and sexology view this.
