① Wataru Mishima pointed this out, so here's some information that was cut from the main story.

It was discovered relatively recently that the walls of the "Hall of 500" are double-layered. Vasari made them double because he felt it would be cruel to overpaint the work of Leonardo, whom he respected, and there was talk that Leonardo's murals remained on the inner walls. National Geographic investigated the walls using a fiberscope, and at one point there were reports that paint was found, but since nothing was found after that, it seems that it was a false start.
