Your musical hero’s almost certainly “ripped off” their musical hero’s. Everyone has influences

I think we need a music video for "Is There Really No Happiness?".

@alan_moon2004 1 year ago

I respect this man so much for how humble and transparent he is about his craft. Perhaps Porter isn't the most innovative artist, but his perspective and passion for music is interesting and admirable.

PORTER. porter. you have streamed yourself making hardstyle and i fucking LOVED it. i love watching you work. i know it's not the same when you know you're making an album, but the process is fascinating now matter how shitty anything that comes out of it is.

The unreleased demo for "Is There Really No Happiness" is incredible. MAN, I'd love a release of it! I love the final product too!

Lyrics for ITRNH demo inspired by Coldplay's "Yellow" @ 7:08 (Porter World?)

Wake up it's the first day
there's snow in the hallway
I was ten years old
I heard your voice from the staircase

You buckle my coat up
you cover my nose up
so that's how it starts, huh?

Wake up its the last day
whole room in your suitcase
and I miss my dog
maybe I'll visit on Friday

The air's getting colder
her breath on my shoulder
so that how it starts, huh?

Ohhh-ohhh-uhhh
Ohhh-ohhh-uhhh

and I wanted to be wrong
when it's over and done
is there really no happiness
without this feeling?

Give me a drug
bottle your love
is there really no happiness
without you near me?
It's so...

Anyone that wants to make bittersweet pop music should study coldplay's chord progressions, melodies, compositions, the whole lot. chris martin is incredibly good, and jonny bucklands guitar melodies always always hit

@ignacioe020t0wscxz 1 year ago

8:36 funnily enough, this reminds me of high & dry (also the chord progression is pretty similar here).

I really loved the bit about Artist B doing Artist A's "thing", but doing it with much less restraint, and how that can be really irksome to the original artist. There's like a food chain of Pop Affectation -- Coldplay - Radiohead -- Aphex Twin -- Karlheinz Stockhausen......or Coldplay -- Radiohead -- Talk Talk -- Miles Davis. I guess with this logic, Porter is the first link before Coldplay. IDK if that's right, IDK his music.
