Tips and Trivia for EVERY ITEM in Smash Ultimate

PKBeats

The culmination of my item trivia series with random topics about every single item found in Smash Ultimate.

While I intend to keep improving my content, as it currently stands, I think my uploads in this series were some of my best in general, and by fixing any major issues or minor errors from them, I'm happy saying this supercut essentially becomes my modern magnum opus.

I hope you enjoy this in however many sittings it takes you to watch, and look forward to everything else that'll follow!

Item Ranking VIDEO is out now: https://youtu.be/UGQIuC9wJwk

EDIT: Don't mind the weird visual bug at 1:06:05 looks like the rendering got messed up there, sorry about that! Hopefully there aren't any more of those in the video, luckily it doesn't last very long and there's nothing else going on visually there lol

I truly love how a ton of items have some weird exception. This game is so funny. Everyone can float cancel with maple leaf… except olimar. Everyone shakes while holding a killing edge… except zss. Everyone keeps animating while crouching with a boomerang… except sora cloud and mythra but NOT pyra

In Pikmin 1, yellows are used to carry bomb rocks but they are not immune to the explosion

Probably been said 8 kajillion times by now, but the amount the food items heal probably relates to the amount they fill up a mii's stomach in Tomodachi Life, the game that the items are likely a reference to.

2:10 "Look, Gary, there I am!"

12:48 Grass uses a pre-defined table of items to choose from. Some items like Freezie and Pitfall aren't even in it while container items are in the table, but have a value of zero preventing them from appearing. Surprised I never added that to the wiki given I have an entire spreadsheet page of the various spawn tables.

26:50 "Wait, I thought I got you the num- oh wait, I see what you're doing."

49:20 For those in the future, the wiki article has since been edited to make the info more collected and thorough.

24:04 I want to add something that I personally found on accident for the metal box item, where specifically the DLC Zero’s Helmet Mii Costume piece has the color of the gem on top of the helmet messed up when the Mii has the Metal or Gold status, so it doesn’t change color, but the lighting on the stage and if your Mii is under something also effects the visibility of the different color. Also it has the same thing that’s happening to Olimar, where the Mii’s face and the hair is the last thing to change.

3:26 That's what happens to me when I have the Smash Ball on. As one of the Meta-Knights, I can't break the thing, and when I do, their enemies take it off in one hit, destroy it in one hit, and no matter how much damage I do, they unleash the Final Smash anyway.

Let’s go! I wish that they had added an item or assist trophy for the DLC characters. Steve would have had a fun couple additions like a shulker assist trophy or enderpearl as an item. Perhaps in the SSBU deluxe they may!

Fun fact about the Hothead. If King Dedede inhales the hothead and reflects it, the move actually resets the timer that the hothead started with. As far as i could tell, no other reflector does this.

Using Falco of all characters for the Super Mushroom segment is some crazy work lmao

57:07 In Pikmin 1 yellow pikmin were the only ones who were able to carry bomb rocks, until that was changed in Pikmin 3 to let any pikmin carry them, but yellow pikmin weren't immune to the explosions, they're only immune to electricity, an element added in Pikmin 2, so smash is pretty accurate... or at least it would be if they didn't make red pikmin immune to explosions, they definitely aren't in the pikmin games.
