The greatest lesson here is perhaps that WhatsApp is not the ideal vehicle for organising government

I'm so glad that a failed WhatsApp dictator is now a constitutional lawyer. Big ups in the world, congratulations.

You having two law degrees makes your entire channel make MUCH more sense

a "social democrat" asking for a monarch to replace the president is wild 😭

Nikkita going "me is sad" really is a time capsule of 2017

This feels more and more like an Anime bit where the regular show halts to exposit the villain's tragic backstory and how it shaped their wacky personality.

You're my favorite unreliable narrator ❤

“Trolligarch, how is your chemistry work going?”
“I’m creating democratic backsliding, sir.”

“What?”

"I founded the Roman empire"
Holy cow dude

Another day another story where our lovely storyteller turns out to be the main villain

I was honestly expecting Nikita to argue "this are not photos, this are stickers, which are not banned by constitutional law"

This was certainly an interesting video.

Everyone keep this man away from government.

The problem with democracy for the sake of democracy is that there is nothing to govern. These types of expirements devolve into memes and identity politics because there is no concrete action a government can take to change the people's lives by inacting meaningful policy. These types of experiments also becomes speedruning dictatorship cuz why not.

When a minecraft server called civlabs opened that aimed to have a specialization experiment by limiting what the player can do alone and encourage player grouping, people were therorising about what kind of government system people would use. It turns out that these groups will function at first without a government where each person fulfills there role until one person steps up as leader. This leader however can't function as a totalitarian dictator and listens to the people. In this system there are no elections or laws. Just a bunch of people in a room giving there opinion on a certain issue.

That leader essentially has executive and judicial powers. There executive powers permits them to, for example, proposing to build a building with this function right here or go to war with another civilization, while there executive powers allows them to forgive of trial a person for stealing or harming the civilization.

This happens because groups don't have time or the players to have a robust democratic system nor do they have the platform to do it (interacting on a platform other than in the game is banned).

Edit: Civlabs's 6th event is currently ongoing with sessions on Friday, Saturday and Sundays. Check their discord for more info.

7:45 she really pulled the "but thats communism"

Tried this with my friends some time ago, ended up with over 3 coups and 5 groupchats, 3 constitutions, we tried absolute democracy, triumvirate of judges, presidential republic, constitutional monarchy, representative democracy and every time we ended up with a dictatorship/nuking.

"let them eat cake" ahh speedrun

12:34 The entire Trolligarch channel makes absolute sense now with this single revelation of them being an aspiring Oxford-educated constitutional lawyer...

Host became a dictator real quick

THE ENDING THE OZYMANDIAS ENDING You've outdone yourself this time, man, that's literal and metaphorical poetry. This was beautiful, truly so.
