In this lesson from our AWS Certified Security Specialty (SCS-C03) course, we introduce AWS Control Tower and explain how it helps organizations manage and govern large multi-account AWS environments.

You’ll learn what AWS Control Tower is, the problems it solves, and how its core features like landing zones, guardrails, and account factory simplify account provisioning, governance, and compliance at scale.

We also walk through what happens during a first-time Control Tower setup, including the default organizational structure, shared security accounts, mandatory guardrails, and how Control Tower integrates with AWS Organizations and IAM Identity Center.

While we won’t deploy Control Tower in this course, this lesson gives you the exact level of understanding you need for the SCS-C03 exam and shows how its concepts map to the hands-on configurations we’ll build manually throughout the rest of the course.
