Afghanistan, a country we have all heard of for the wrong reasons. For the first time in over 40 years, Afghanistan is at peace. However, under Taliban rule, it remains highly controversial, with rights, especially of women, being eroded every day.
We decided to travel solo to Taliban controlled Afghanistan in 2025, to try understand what life is really like inside a country we all hear so much about on the news, but often understand so little of.

Afghanistan is a nation with a rich culture, history and heritage, it is a proud country that has defeated every empire that passed through its land, from the British, to the Soviets, and most recently the Americans. But what is life like right now?
Join us as we travel solo, overland from Pakistan, towards Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, and try to understand more about this flawed, and often misunderstood state.

This trip was both intense and emotional, but ultimately worth it. We met some amazing people in Afghanistan, and aim to share some of their lives and a real snapshot of what the country is like in 2025 🫶🏻

As an Afghanistani, I don't like when you say it is a stable period, that is misleading. It is not stability or peace. this is silence under oppression and suffocation.

I don't like to complain, but as a woman living in Afghanistan, I don't feel safe and free to go outside. That's why you don't see women in the society much. I hope I can escape and have a better life

I was just reading an article that says the men in Afghanistan are very nice to foreigners as part of their public relations and image control which is all part of the Taliban rule. What you experienced here is not normal and women are horribly mistreated in this country.

No country breaks the heart more than Afghanistan when it comes to women. Not only can women no longer work, go to school, have any sort of autonomy, but they can no longer speak “ loudly” in a public space or take their face covering off in their own home when the window is open. Women are not allowed to be doctors and male doctors are not allowed to treat women for female related issues which means no Obgyn care and no care during pregnancy and delivery. My heart breaks for these women. Don’t forget that these women got to taste freedom a little bit as they were able to study and work and it was snatched from them overnight. A cat has more rights in the country than a woman. this is being forced on a population who were not Muslim. This was a Buddhist country at one time. As someone who has met many Afghans in my life, I love these incredible people, and what they’re going through, particularly the women, is tragic.
