Marbella's stunning Paseo Marítimo is a 12-kilometre seafront promenade that stretches from the city's marina through Puerto Banús to San Pedro de Alcántara. Along the way, it passes the Bajadilla fishing port, Marbella's historic centre, El Ancón, and Río Verde, linking some of the area's most popular coastal districts.
Lined with cafés, restaurants, and beachside terraces, the promenade is one of the Costa del Sol's most attractive waterfront walks. Just a short distance from Marbella's town center, it is a favourite spot for walking, jogging, and cycling while enjoying panoramic views of the Mediterranean. Its lively atmosphere makes it popular with both visitors and locals throughout the year.
During the summer months, the beaches along the promenade come alive with beach bars (chiringuitos), restaurants, water sports, sun loungers, and seasonal lifeguard services. Among the most popular are La Fontanilla Beach, an 800-metre stretch beside the marina, and Playa del Faro, located on the opposite side of the harbour. Those seeking a quieter setting can head to beaches on the outskirts of Marbella, such as El Cable, where natural sand dunes replace the urban backdrop.
The Paseo Marítimo also forms part of the Senda Litoral de Málaga, an ambitious 163-kilometre coastal trail that will eventually run from Manilva to Nerja, connecting the entire coastline of Málaga province. Once fully completed, this long-distance route is expected to become one of the Costa del Sol's premier attractions for walkers, cyclists, and outdoor enthusiasts.
