can confirm. there is always a homosexual man at the hairdresser who has something to say about the duggars. i know this because he is me

You have to know the fundie vocabulary: “fellowship” = hanging out with friends, but make it awkward 😬.

if i had 19 siblings i would be so pissed off all the time

Michelle approaches hospitality the same was she approaches parenting. She makes her kids sacrifice for it while she does nothing and takes all the credit.

1:29:30 I gotta say. being raised catholic, the fact that the answer to "who's the most influential mother" in a Christian context was "Michelle Duggar" and not MARY MOTHER OF GOD felt BLASPHEMOUS.
Protestants are wild.

Kinda loving how Beall is secretly jealous of Michelle's celebrity status, and manifests  her resentment by subtly flaunting her upper-classless and college education by the way she speaks. I get the feeling she doesn't want Michelle there at all.

My mother was in this type of church and belief system and DID have a baby with Trisomy-18... She assumed that she would have a stillbirth and told us- her 4 children, that this baby wasn't going to survive and that she was doing the right thing by carrying her "as long as God allowed". She not only ended up surviving birth, but living the worst and most torturous two days I can imagine a human living. My mom turned herself into a martyr, and uses the story of my little sister of an example of God's mercy. I use it as an example of delusion and selfishness. My sisters and I AND my mom AND the baby all experienced a completely avoidable tragedy.  I almost had a panic attack when that topic came up because that condition is SO rare, that it's very likely my mom was the woman who wrote that letter. Jen, thank you for covering these topics with the grace and compassion that you do. These churches and home studies and books and people cause REAL trauma, real suffering, and real lifelong consequences for people. <3

If Michelle gave birth to humility it would be called Jumility, am I right? I'll see myself out

“They wouldn’t recognize humility even if Michelle Duggar gave birth to it” a devastating bar I fear

My mother is very pro having many babies. She recently asked my brother when will he and his wife have baby #3. Keep in mind, their youngest son just barely turned 9 months. He told our mom that he wasn't going to have anymore kids, even if they did want more. She quickly became irritated and asked him why would they stop at 2, and he looked her dead in the eye, and said " I almost lost my wife, she lost so much blood and had such a complicated birth, I almost became a widower, and our kids almost lost their mom. I'm not gonna risk her life again." My brother is a goof ball, always cracking jokes. So for him to be serious about something was very unlike him. I'm glad he stood up to my mom, and her nagging. Unfortunately my mom gave the stupid " if God wants you to have another baby, he will bless her with a safe delivery. " which is the sickest thing to say especially considering how many women pass during birth. Either way I had to cut in and steer the conversation away from the topic because it pissed me off.

When I meet someone named Michelle I always make a point of saying “thank you, Michelle” and of course they don’t know it’s a reference 😂

take a sip of water everytime 'home' is said and we'll be all hydrated amen

I love that she starts the video off with, “wanted to make a short video for you all” as I just buckled my seat belt for a 2.5 hour ride w Jen 😂🤭👏

yk i really agree with her!! hospitality is creating culture, and culture is an incredibly important part of my life as a queer southern femme. personally i love creating a culture in my own home full of gay people, trans people, furries, satanists, pagans, and lovable freaks (/pos) of all kinds (the homosexual hairdresser is always in attendance at my dinner parties btw and yes we do always talk about the duggars/evangelicals in general)

The obsession with Titanic and somehow turning it into religious allegory is HILARIOUS

Michelle speaks to an entire room of adults like they are all 5 and the tone and cadence drives me insane. It’s condescending.

As an infertile woman with a former fundamentalist Christian background, I had so much trauma from from the desire to have a family. I felt so broken and second class in the "women's ministry". I literally had no place.

Those orange slices fought for thier life to save that family from scurvy🍊

Ngl, when they’re talking about the standards expected of them for cleaning, but also it’s not a presentation, I got flashbacks. I grew up adjacent to Quiverfull and I remember my mother crying and having panic attacks when my father would bring guests home with maybe 15 minutes notice. We were very poor (the money went to the true needy…the pastors) and yet always had to have enough food in case someone came over to suddenly “fellowship.” It was beyond stressful and my father would react with such anger and resentment if we were less than his idea of a perfect, clean home. All the while, we said these same things- It’s not an act, we do it joyfully for God and the men in our lives. The expectations put on women and girls in these movements is prison camp level mental torture.

"You're sending them to stay at your pervert son's house" 💀 These people have never heard of the word boundaries before.
