This is Germany's attempt to beat the Chinese battery industry!
A new battery cell made of lithium and the base material for gunpowder – sulfur!
The lithium-sulfur battery promises exactly what China is currently failing to achieve: three times the energy density and range – up to 1,500 km – and significantly cheaper despite being produced in Germany.
One of the world's largest battery factories is now being built in Heide, Schleswig-Holstein.
And this is precisely where Germany's previous largest battery factory failed just a few months ago – the Northvolt site.
Can it work this time, or will nearly €1 billion of taxpayers' money be wasted again? What can this battery technology really achieve? Can we truly surpass the battery nation of China with it?

Wird es mit einer neuen Zellchemie möglich sein wieder mit China zu konkurrieren oder ist der Zug bereits abgefahren?
