Alternative title:What happens when lazy gods try to automate things.

I like how Ivalice's creation myth is just a bunch of powerful beings systematically delegating work to lower powerful beings they created to handle the lowliest of beings: humans (a.k.a. workers). Makes it seem more like a Corporation rather than a Pantheon.

Hearing all this packed into one video makes me realize how much FFXIV takes from Tactics. Glorious.

This is perfect timing. I'm doing a dnd campaign in the ivalice universe

What is awesome is that this is technically the lore to Vagrant Story and FFXII

Spectacular. I consider myself a lore afficionado of Ivalice myself, but you really went above and beyond the basic lore here. Though you added a healthy amount of supposition to make all the pieces fit, you did so admirably and didn't contradict any established lore. Terrific work!

Writing this for my own use:

Fabar and Danan (Cosmological/Celestial/Godly beings) fought (for millennia) > Matoya prophesized Danan's king, Xabam will die by his second (Ahnas) > Xabam imprisoned Ahnas > Ahnas freed (after millennia), worked with Fabar and took down Xabam (also took millennia) > Ahnas turned Xabam into Ivalice, imprisoned for eternity > Ahnas created humans to take care of Ivalice so Xabam will suffer continuously > Ahnas peaced out to heaven > Humans being humans, overstepped, may ruin Xabam's punishment > Ahnas came back, created 2 copies of him to manage > 2 copies got lazy and created Occuria > Occuria got lazy and created scions (and other creatures) > After millennia, dragons got bored, rebelled, got slapped with rings > Occuria triggered, made Calamity of Earth (banish humans to mortal realm) > Scions also got bored, some rebelled and failed, then there's Ultima > Ultima hated the unfair conditions, schemed to rebel the Occuria (for millennia) > Shemhazai (one of Ultima's scion) didn't join but went to the mortal realm to create chaos and ruin Ivalice > Ultima and gang failed > Occuria punished Ultima to reborn in a random human for eternity, the gang got sealed into Auracite (12 zodiac) > Occuria came back to the mortal realm after millennia (Thousand Years War) and Ivalice was at the brink of destruction > Occuria made Calamity of Light (fear of religion) > Human ideas of religion made things worse over time (religious wars) > Occuria made Calamity of Fire (burn em all) > Humans recovered > Occuria made Ivalice into ice age, and slowed down the humans > Occuria got happy and went away to other realms > After 5000 years of cold, Ivalice burped lava, reversing the cold > Occuria came back, discussed what to do (for millennia), and noticed something > Humans were too advanced, created 7 kingdoms in the East, and war never changes > A king of Mullonde wants to stop war with unity by summoning a demon > Demon killed king, took over Mullonde as king > Ivalice overrun with demons and monsters > Human discovered the Auracite (all 12) and became the Zodiac Braves > Beat demon and disappeared > Occuria worried over human's new power and technology advancements (discovery of magic) that pollutes Ivalice, made Calamity of Wind (stopped wind power tech) [The light of Kiltia/Phara could be founded around this time] > (The Galtean Alliance could occur here, not too certain) > Humans got smarter, made new tech without need for wind that pollutes more (FFXII takes place around here I believe) > Occuria made Calamity of Water (flood to reset tech and cleanse Ivalice from pollution) > Calamity got polluted itself and corrupted into Deity of Pestilence (spread diseases) [FFXII could also be here because the Disease status effect in the game] > Roughly 80 years after FFXII, Holy Ydoran Empire founded, Church of Pharism is the religious authority,  Pharism is the main religion > Ajora was born (this is the scion Ultima reborn), thus have prophetic powers, later called Saint Ajora > Saint Ajora became a pain to the empire, sent Germanique to spy, found to be suspect, Ajora captured and hanged at 20 years old > After Ajora (Ultima) died, the dark scions (Lucavi, 12 zodiac) brought about the waves, sinking Mullonde, waned Pharism influence > Church of Glabados (Ajora's last name) was established, the Lucavi see it as a chance to control and bring about Ultima's resurrection again > Church of Glabados removed Pharism, infiltrated the Holy Ydoran Empire, and became the main religion of Ivalice.

Today on "Middle management goes power hungry" or "the evils of poor delegation"

Honey wake the kids up! The abridged book of Enoch has released!

You know, I never liked the Occuria and I know we’re supposed to root against them, but seeing all the lore compiled and expressed in order kinda made me start rooting for them. It’s like their existence is being the eternal babysitters to the universe’s worst behaving children lol

Occuria: Alright, send in Cuchulainn and the Calamity of Water!

Occuria: Ok, so we accidently created Nurgle... We know that now...

I am planning a D&D campaign for my cousins that takes place during the War of the Lions and this video provided so much information I didn't know and inspiration for a story for the campaign, I can't wait for the rest of the parts!

Very possibly my favorite FF world, so super excited 🥰

I had no idea the lore of tactics was so deep. I can't wait to play it against on my switch

I can't explain how happy I was to see this video pop up. This is my favorite final fantasy game. My favorite characters, my favorite world, my favorite story. Everything. Thank you so much!

But like a classic Oracle She told him of the betrayal itself and not what actions would facilitate that betrayal

Can’t count the number of times I’ve played all the games in Ivalice and yet still learned so much, well done as always y’all 👏🏼

I didn't expect you to go into the XII lore too! This is so exciting. I love the Ivalice games and love the lore more than any of the other Final Fantasy mythoi.

43:46 it's crazy how much work went into this world only for Tactics to get it's first proper mention this far into the video.
I didn't realize Ivallice had inspired world Building.
