This is what fishing’s about no matter the size or species just being out by the water catching fish is amazing

Great vid pal.  This takes me back i dunno a good 35-40 years to when i first started fishing.  Float fishing on our local little ponds....it was ace!!!

I always fish one sleeper rod with a method feeder or bomb for carp/tench, and another with a waggler setup for whatever comes along. I usually use punched bread on the waggler if there are tiny perch around which ALWAYS swallow the hook. I think it's much more interesting than staring at two identical parallel rods set up for hours on end like I used to, and there's always the chance of a specimen roach/rudd/bream etc.

Hi Carl, nice to watch one of the most versatile ways of just catching some fish. As others have mentioned float fishing was the first method a lot of anglers learned and once you get the hang of it it's very interesting just how many ways a bait can be presented: on the bottom, mid water, sub surface on the drop and much more. Those Preston waggler kits are pretty good and beat using split shot,  for me personally I now use drennan float stops with a quick change float adapter and that works well enough. Wasn't this session so enjoyable!!  The variety of species was excellent but for me ....top marks for those Gudgeon that was the very first species I caught and I've always been delighted whenever I can catch any. Id agree that OMC stuff is good and their float rod and reel combo looks absolutely spot on to start float fishing just wish that quality of kit was available when I started I had to make do with some " hand me down" rough and ready kit and it hampered my chances as much as helping, beginners now have access to the proper stuff and excellent tutorials like this video my only advice about your video to a newcomer is save it to the YouTube personal library on their phone or tablet for reference meanwhile as ever Tight lines

Nice video Carl personally I prefer to put number 8 shot do the line. He's the hook bait look more natural as its falling through the water.  Wjich in turn can lead to a better stamp of fish

Same size as the fish I pick up in my local chippy on a Friday now..Great video pal. 👍

I prefer to overcast a waagler with the line clip on and count 2-3 winds to pull it to the plumbed area, that way if you catch a larger fish there is line to be released from the drag.
I sometimes tie a sliding knot onto the mainline, and once I cast out to the area on the line clip, I move the sliding knot down to the bail arm and release the clip.
Then, when I recast, I overcast and wind back to the sliding knot.

Loop to loop on your hooklength, there's a better way, stick your main line loop through your hooklength loop, put your hook through the main line loop, makes for a straighter and stronger loop to loop.

i have a sundrige hm60 13ft brought new i the 90s , its so light , using 3lb main line ,  a mitchell 308x gold or daiwa harrier 125m

Hi i all ways put the shot on my line at home in a bucket to the orange or red  top so no messing about when I'm fishing then put a swan shot on my hook has better for casting so just as the tip of the float popping out add a couple of inches on so you just dragging bottom then you know what shot you need to take it to the top as you did it at home in the book it

That loop is massive Carl, need a loop tyer and also best to put a large shot clamped to the hook rather than a plummet

I do like catching a gonk "gudgeon" and there are a good number of them on the river where I fish. Will you be doing a video on stick float fishing?

The very fact that you said the line is poor so needs to be changed should ring alarm bells on the quality of the rod & reel! If the rod/reel were that good they would’nt put cheap/crap line on it. Also £49.99 for a rod & reel suggests the poor quality of the components used. I steer away from any OMC products due to the contentious history of their previous items.👍🏻🎣
