The fact that they didn't know who's voice Damien was is just a testament to DMX's talent really. He killed these tracks from a lyrical, metaphorical & narrative standpoint.

Livin' in the fog” is a reference to having no direction and living a life of crime. DMX is just putting people in categories: The snake is the deceiver, The rat is the snitch, The cat is the average person, The dog is the trusted friend.

9:35 she got it ...it's the devil & he has a price to pay...happy you got it.

There is no twist there is no "character" the point is DMX is dancing with the devil for the rest of his life and has to constantly conciously fight for his redemption.

Damien 2's beat is so damn good. Horror Rap at its finest.

DMX is doing both rap parts going back and forth with himself. Like a devil on his shoulder YES!

DMX's whole thing has always been how irredeemable he's been as a person, but God still takes him back in the end. Every album he's released ends in a prayer and gospel song.

Its DMX the entire song and its the impersonation of the devils bad influence

DMX is a Legend. I don't care how much crack he smokes. One of the best to ever do it.  His book Earl was really good as well.  And that is DMX doing the Damien voice as well. Who is the devil

The Snake, rat, cat and dog are animals use to describe certain peoples character traits in the world.. ill elaborate..
The SNAKE: A person that would sell you out in a heart beat and turn around and bite you on a whim

The RAT is code for snitch..(someone you should never impart your secrets to or make aware of your plans) as they will tell the world and throw you under the bus to save their own skin.

The CAT: a person that doesn't have a strong heart but will often pretend to be there for you until your friendship no longer benefits them and would not hesitate to leave hanging dry with no back up at the first sign of trouble..

The DOG is a dog (a mans best freind) a ride or die, loyal animal thats willing to stand with you trough your trials and tribulations (a true freind)

The fog is way deeper than just the usage drugs.. sometimes life itself can seem foggy regardless of weather you take drugs or not.. life can take you through dark foggy places and therefor make it hard for you to decern whos who and what their true internations are in relations to being around you.

And that is DMX ft Damien who infact is also,  you guessed it, DMX lol

Damien part 1 beat is legendary

When he’s talking about living in the fog  it’s not necessarily drugs or smoking it’s more of not noticing what’s really going on around you in general.

DMX - Lord Give Me A Sign

Yup. He asked for a guardian angel in the beginnin but got the “devil”

Dmx's autobiography is a really good read I recommend it

For the record: All the voices on this song is DMX

DMX is the GOAT

I think thats DMX just with a high-pitched voice😂

These songs are definitely all about the story. Thats the reason i like them so much.

The fog is fame and the animals or people, the types you meet along the way!🍺🥃
