Refarding handles: similar to Mustang machE.
Normally the handles are related to bowden cables inside the door to unlock the latch (handle>bowden>Latch).
These wing handles are attached to an electric latch releaseer.
(Winghandle>cables>latch).
According an D-FMEA (Design Failure...) the electric cables are more reliable than bowden cables during crashes.
The weak spot is availability of electricity to unlock from the outside. That's why she has mentioned several electrical sources as an backup. On the inside there is traditional combinations of electric and bowden handles to have double protection.
For me it looks cool/clean and aerodynamic, too (a volvo design understatement to differentiate themselves). Let's see who will copy it;)

The clean lines of the doors without the ‘blemishes’ of door handles contribute to this. The second reason is the Gemini AI - too often Siri has turned me down when I’ve asked for something I need to know while driving - because I was driving!

The video is very informative and the questions are not formal but are actual, Regarding the door handles - it seems that the only reason for Volvo to choose this solution is design only, the aim to have a unique design over practicality. Not artodynamics, not other reason. Sure taking into account all the work Volvo did as they claim, I hope these handle will be mot much worse than the traditional ones.
Lorina Gewarges mentioned the multiple tests (temperatures, ice etc) but there is one important thing Volvo didn't take into account - electronic warfare interference. There are cases when people could not open the doors of Volvo ES90, waiting more than 1 hours outdoors in -7C. Sure these were the war conditions, but ruzzians made electronic warfare attacks in different parts of Europe already. And to ensure safety, a modern EV must have the the very simple option -mechanical door opening from ouside and the freedom of when to start or stop the car ("weark up" in case of EVs).

I don't know this channel, but I love how it is NOT taking everything Volvo Marketing tells and really puts some stress on them. Like with the door handling, it won't be a show stopper for most, but he made them basically say "well, it looks cool, it has no other benefit" - which is a GOAT move.
