:_TonyHappy: I hope you enjoy this 3rd episode of my Up Close series. What should we examine in episode 4?

You don't understand how much I appreciate content creators that enjoy their game worlds by observing even the closest and obscure pieces of information. Like, someone spent the time to make it this way, so let's talk about it!

The broom like symbol is the bell of the temple of time

I can explain the paint splatters in Sage's shop! The left tub is for dyeing and the right tub is for removing dyes. The reason there's no dye on the ceiling is because the floor opens towards the tubs and that part of the wood isn't exposed to the splatters!

Regarding the dye shop owner's strange design, he's based on the Chu Jelly chemist from Wind Waker. That's why he looks so cartoony.

About the Molduga's prey eyes... if it's intentional, it could allude to a far bigger predator being once present in the Gerudo desert, potentially the great skeleton which is based on a whale

I think moldugas are based on cetaceans (whale/dolphin/porpoise), which makes a lot of its design details really cool! Like horizontal pupils, even though pop science refers to them as "prey eyes," are just the normal pupil shape of cetaceans which are mostly predator animals (which moldugas very much seem to be). The vestigial legs also are really cool because cetacean legs have evolved into a shape more useful for reducing drag in water, but for moldugas living in sand with a giant shovel face, those tiny legs don't really get in the way with how it moves and may even help position it for digging back down. My favorite detail is that it "swims" by undulating side-to-side instead of up-down like cetaceans, which makes sense with it's shovel face being wide at the ends so it could actually gain some traction by compacting sand near the ends of its wave so it can move forward. I imagine it like it's making loose sand into a solid surface to grip onto and pull itself forward. I'm guessing maybe the dorsal fins may help to loosen sand above it and make forward speed a bit easier, but I could see it being a purely aesthetic choice

I've always felt a little melancholy seeing the remains of constructs in the sky or depths. Like what were they there to do? Were they there to explain what a zonai device did? Take care of a sky island? Give an explanation to tourists? We won't know, they just got run down and lost their energy eventually. It's like seeing a skeleton, like this animal (or person) had their own life, and you can only guess based on context what happened to them, but you'll never really know for sure. And you can never know what their life entailed other than maybe their diet, or seeing bone-deep injuries they recovered from or succumbed to.

17:20 not sure if you've covered this, but one thing that baffles me that is a kind of like the lanterns is on the climbing set, link has a carabiner clip on his belt, which I thought was SO ahead of Hyrule's time, like it seems like too modern to be in the game. Fun detail.

With the way you covered a closer look at Hateno's Dye Shop you could cover Link's house! Maybe point out the changes between Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom (especially with all the little touches Zelda added herself)?
Bolson actually adds quite a few amenities for free, like all the decor on the dining table and the lighting. It's pretty nice honestly. 🏡

Pretty cool detail how the soldier constructs have their arms powered by their charges while stewards don't
Presumably they'd need a lot more power in their limbs to deal damage with their weapons

4:28 those are actually ferns! Monsteras are much bigger in size and their leaves seem to have “holes” in them. Still a very awesome video documentary I’ve come to enjoy :]

Upd: I may be wrong as am not quite sure which leaves you were mainly referring to! So sorry if that’s the case <:[

One of my favorite details in this game is the fact that there’s a hairbrush in links bedroom when you build the house by Tarrey Town.

I swear I've heard the Depth's soldiers breathing when I stand up close!

Powerwasher Simulator dlc: The Temple of Time

1:28 “I must find the mycelium.”

perhaps the reason why Mulduga have horizontal pupils (aside from probably being pigged out by Ganon) is due to their desert habitat, horizontal pupils, as you said, are used to widen the field of view, which might be useful for Mulduga to scan for prey, not threats, as there are few, if any, obstructions that'd block vision, but also not much in the way of cover to hide behind, so Mulduga might need a wide range of vision to spot prey and judge where they are going, then rush at them underneath the sand

Love these. Also the “…it’s well known that the mummified hands on the Great Plateau form a Triforce” just floored me. Probably upwards of six, full play throughs over the years, had NO idea. 😂

Thanks for sharing your appreciation of detail, it’s helped me be more appreciative of these things too!

My favorite thing about any game with wildlife, is always the tiny details. It shows how much the developers care, and how in depth the ecosystems are.

4:50 those "tentacle shaped growths" look like fiddlehead ferns to me!
