It's like listening to Bob Ross paint a mix.

This post is better than 99% of the mixing tutorials out there.

Mom, it's not a phase!!

I’m pretty sure this is the best vocal eq advice that I’ve seen in the 15+ years I’ve been doing this. It’s not “this is what I did to this vocal” but “this is WHY vocal eq could work this way.”

I’m playing this to my kid for bedtime stories

Gregory you should really write a book. It will be a great success

That point when you play back version 24 of your mix then play version 1 and realise how much you boiled the frog into digital harshness.

You had me at 632hz.

I always come out feeling a little more smarter and confident when I watch a Greg explaining mixing taste and technique. 💯

Took me 20 years to hear the phase shift when high passing.  If you were ever unlucky enough to hear your parents getting it on when you lived at home then it lives in the same part of your brain as that. Once you hear it, you can't unhear it.

The Lord of engineers has returned I have work to do

The high pass filter advice was actually really good. Shelving instead of high passing actually saved a song I wasn't loving and just opened up a whole bunch of possibilities in the low end. Thank you so much.

"Mitigate the jank" My new mantra. And thanks.

All of these videos are on another level from everything else on Youtube. Several levels up, in fact.

I am happy you are making videos again 👍

I found this very inspiring. I think my biggest issue with mixing is I tend to do too much. I do one move to try to solve a problem. But then that creates a new problem. So I do another move to solve that. And pretty soon I've got 15 plugins and a mangled and over-processed sound. The reality is I probably could have achieved a better version of the same thing with two carefully chosen moves.

Man the high/low pass filter vs the shelf made a big difference in my mix. I could instantly hear the difference. The shelf was much more natural, and my mix sound fuller. Thanks man!!

This has got to be one of the most relaxed videos on mixing I've heard. I'll have to try this stuff on my next recording. The fact that he seems to perceive audio differently than a lot of the other people I watch makes this worth a subscribe

i have applied the ideas from this video and the last one.  my mixing life has changed infinitely for the better forever.  thank you house of kush!!

That makes sense.  I think that is why I have had such good luck with simple 3 band vintage style EQ because it limits you to top and bottom shelves.  Very musical.
