That's right. I'm doing it. Terraria but only "other" magic weapons. I alluded to this being a thing in my wands only video, saying that it would be "terrible". It was, in fact, terrible. At least in pre-hardmode. This was purely due to the fact I could ONLY use the CRIMSON ROD in pre-hardmode. This made it incredibly challenging, especially against the Wall of Flesh. But, if I manage to beat the WoF, it unlocks a bunch of cool, fun and even strong weapons to use for the challenge in hardmode. SO LETS DO IT!!

if you want to suffer EVEN MORE, try thorn weapons only, there are only 3 of them which are vilethorn, neetle burst and crystal vile shard

I feel like this is a pre hardmode challenge, where when you get to hardmode the game is like “Well done! Now here are some crazy good weapons to make up for that”

I've been playing through Master mode runs where I choose a random special seed, and choose a class. Then, a wheel decides which subclass will be fighting which boss. I think you should try this, it's pretty fun to let a wheel decide which bosses you fight first! I beat Deerclops as my second boss after 50 minutes with just a leather whip.

Edit: I've called it "Roulette"

Edit 2: I've beaten Master mode Roulette with all 4 main classes, and now I'll do one with SEVENTEEN different options on the wheel + every boss kill will result in a wheel spin (yes that does mean I can reroll, but I will only use that if I need a boss drop, Ie. Golem not dropping the sun stone I need after 27 consecutive attempts)

the spirit flame is probably my favorite weapon in terraria and imo is the best usage weapon in the game, it does great damage, has homing, really low mana cost and you can get it before any boss in hard mode and its viable all the way till golem in fact i use it like that in calamity despite all the other weapon upgrades -the destroyer, its just that good

Honestly, the crimson rod should qualify as a wand if you ask me. The only reason it isn't is because there's a similar weapon in hardmode and the two get lumped into the same micro-weapon type.

On the bottom of every weapon's wiki page there is a list of all weapons. Over there magic weapons are divided into subclasses by projectile trajectory. I think this is better than wand-gun-other subclassification of "Mage weapons" wiki page
