Who are Italians, really? Which populations have inhabited our country throughout human history? How did they live? What did they eat? What cultural and genetic exchanges have there been? Science on the Sofa returns to chat with scientists and communicators. The guest of this first episode is Giacomo Moro Mauretto @EntropyforLife, who recently published the book "True Italians. Evolutionary and Genetic History of Our Country" (Mondadori, 2025).

Bio:
My name is Ruggero, I was born in 1996, I have a degree in chemistry, and I work in science communication. I am a research fellow at the "Toso Montanari" Department of Industrial Chemistry at the University of Bologna. I primarily deal with environmental and everyday chemistry. I study and combat chemophobia, the irrational fear of (synthetic) chemicals. With the "Science on the Couch" program, I interview scientists and science communicators in a disgustingly informal manner. I hold conferences and meetings in schools (poor students!). Since 2019, I have collaborated on the creation of Superquark+ for RaiPlay, and since 2023, I have been one of the communicators for Noos on Rai1. I wrote "C'è chimica in casa" (Mondadori, 2022) and, with Simone Angioni and Stefano Bertacchi, "Quello che sai sulla plastica è sbagliato" (Gribaudo, 2023).
