R.I.P Siskel, Ebert and Robert Altman.

Cool Runnings always fascinated me because In the true story the opposite happened. The other countries were incredibly supportive of the Jamaican team and some even offered them their good sleds so they would have a better chance of qualifying.

Ebert describes Siskel and himself at 19:16.

I love Raymond Carver stories, and I love Altman's "Short Cuts." I saw it in the theaters and when the audience walked out, strangers began talking to one another, trying to process what we had all just seen. I agree with Siskel and Ebert that this is Altman, a brilliant auteur, at the top of his game. What a movie!

Count on Gene to be snarky when he says "John Candy as a bobsledder?" Well, Candyman was an athlete, he was a football player when he was in school, injured his knee which led to him leaving the sport. He played hockey in skits on SCTV and ice skated in Central Park with Mariel Hemingway at the end of Delirious (no AI back then)....so yeah it is conceivable he was an athlete in his youth, could even fit in a bobsled at some point. Anyway, when Roger looks a little offended for obvious reasons and says, "Well, 20 years ago...." Gene quickly brings up a photo in the movie. That photo is not of a young Candy (which puzzled me - there are several "thin" young Candy photos that could have been used) but of a guy who looks nothing like Candy but the actor David Keith, I always thought. Cool Runnings is a sweet, inspirational, uplifting movie, maybe sanitized but that is not always a bad thing................

Cool running was a great film

I thought Cool Runnings was great fun and there isn’t much reason to overthink the movie. Sure, I noticed a few of the unnecessary stereotypes in the movies but immediately dismissed them.

Alec Baldwin's  physician character has a serious God complex in "Malice".

Malice is very good.

A bit too hard on "Malice". It's not a masterpiece, but for mystery fans like myself, its enjoyable and its not as confusing as they stated, also there is a reason why the serial killer plot is included. Albeit a small reason but a reason nonetheless. I loved watching these guys most of my life. They however are infected by a condition most critics of entertainment have...They hardly take any film they watch at face value...If they don't see the kind of true depth that usually is reserved for serious dramas of the human condition, in a genre film that's just aiming for you to come along for the ride...they dismiss it as bad. In other words, They'll love Saving Private Ryan, but they'll dismiss Bachelor Party because it doesn't have the " emotional depth" of Ryan...ehh what can you do!..lol....A scorpion can't help being a scorpion...lol

They thought Malice was a violent movie?  Like what?

The Actor who voiced Archie the Robo Dog

“ I’m thinking of a movie. “
“ is it a good movie?”
“ it has its moments. “
“Cool Runnings.”
“Got it.”

Cool runnings is a masterpiece

I AM GOD

It’s sad that Siskel and Ebert can see the inspiration in much worse movies, but not in cool Runnings. This is a great film, based on a true story. They really blew this review and I doubt they even watched this movie. I also doubt they ever played any sports
