I think this has been the most comprehensive explanation for removing the loops I have seen. I always assumed it was to increase the strength of the connection. But now I know its to improve the presentation! Thank you!

A tippet ring is a fine substitutions for a loop and serves the same purpose only better and worse in some ways as you mentioned. Perfect explanation.

I’m exited to try them out on a tail water I just set up a new 5wt and stoked to try them for dry dropper and nymphing for browns.

I recently bought two sinking poly leaders i lked them. So now I want to try the floating one with a popper.

What should I use on my lines for like a 6 inch butt section on the end? Sinking and intermediate I thought flurocarbon 20lbs. Wf and double taper floating lines I thought best to use mono 20lb/15lb right? I don’t use loop to loop as the fly line loops crack. But I need a loop as I use airflo polyleaders

Are those braided loops that you snake on okay? I put them on my older lines. I do understand the concept of the loop that you install.

As a complete beginner who doesn’t want to spend a bunch of money on store bought leaders. Could you do a more detailed video on non contact leaders for trout? I.e. nimphs, dries, and good formulas? I’m interested in tying my own.

what’s the purpose of a floating polyleader as opposed to just a regular floating line with a leader that’s dressed with floatant?

Poly leaders are a suboptimal solution to a problem that fly lines solve, but good lord is it the best tradeoff ever so you don’t need to bring multiple rods and lines, and it works! Just not optimally with your rod and line.

This cutting the loop off thing seems to be more of a hassle long term for only marginal benefit.

Thank you for all of the great information in this presentation. I began using tippet rings for quick tippet replacement on leaders. One issue I ran into in my most recent trip was that my dropper kept getting tangled with my line. On my next trip, if I use a dropper rig, I am going to try swivels to try to keep the line from winding together. Any thoughts on that logic?
