'Truth Will Cause Massive Earthquake': Arnab On Antilia Coverup | NIA | Param Bir Singh
Arnab calls it India's biggest scandal: the Antillia coverup. The NIA has told the special court it won't rely on the statements of 23 witnesses, including former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, in the trial of 10 accused. The list also includes the testimony of cyber expert Ishan Sinha. In the NIA's 2021 chargesheet, Sinha said Singh asked him to insert a Jaish-ul-Hind poster into his report and paid him Rs 5 lakh .
Criminal lawyer Rizwan Merchant says, "What is being done by NIA is unheard of." He argues that once the court has taken cognisance of the final report, material can't be taken out of it. BJP MLA Atul Bhatkhalkar says Param Bir Singh's role should be investigated, but says there's no question of a coverup. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Kishore Tiwari asks, "Who controls NIA? It is the Central Government."
The debate turns heated over who brought Sachin Waze back into the police. Waze was reinstated in June 2020 by a review committee led by Param Bir Singh. Singh later told the ED that then home minister Anil Deshmukh had put "direct pressure" on him, and that he'd received instructions from Uddhav and Aaditya Thackeray. Arnab also asks why the Ambani family hasn't spoken out. Watch.
