As a musician, there is literally nothing better than a drummer that just gets it.
Chad Smith is the epitome of 'getting it'. A jam session with him would be a dream come true.

You can see as he is playing with each section he slightly slows then commits completely 1000% with no hesitation whatsoever. The dude is an absolute legend.

“Let’s put the drums on god mode.”

Chad Smith “Hold my beer, I got this.”

absolutely mental, he listened the drumless track for like 30 seconds and just went for it truly a master at his craft.

I was spoiled by seeing Chad first and didn't realize that other drummers listened first and played after.

I like Chad's version better than the original as well.

Killed it! Band should rename their band from '30 Seconds to Mars' to '30 Seconds for Chad' lol jk😂

People might not like their songs for whatever reason, but to not acknowledge how much of a BEAST formation it is to have Chad Smith, Flea and John Frusciante in the same band is, in my opinion, slightly disrespectful to music in general.

@2:21 I love how he starts to explain the usual routine of this challenge, only later to find that madman Chad is operating off of exactly zero prep and 30 seconds of context.

"30 Second to Mars? More like.... 30 seconds til I reverse engineer this entire track!"

God tier musician indeed!

Chad fucking nailed it! I love led his energy to bro. Chad has whatever he wants in his wheelhouse

2:43 that look when you realize Chad is a GOAT of drumming and you can't believe he is killing it this good on his first listen of the song.

Chads a different kind of beast. His ability to listen and adept on the spot is insane. He got so much confidence. Its brilliant.

It’s amazing how Chad nailed it!… jumping right in. 1 Take!

It sort of comes with being a session drummer, but what he did is just a level beyond. You can tell Chad's music comprehension is just off the charts and his countless sessions with different artists' shows here, being able to just pickup on a song after 30 seconds.

his crash cymbal work is off the hook.

Will Ferrill is a talented drummer.

No man, emo songs aren't predictable at all, he's just a fucking God tier drummer.

as a bassist who has played with excellent drummers in my time and place, and seeing his change/adjustments, i kno that that man can just do it in one.
