Hold on
21k viewers in Iceland?
You're watched by 5% of the Icelandic population?
Is that real because if it is, that's wild

I just realized that, because Japan wasn't hit by nukes in this timeline, Godzilla wouldn't ever exist. A true tragedy.

Fun fact : During Dunkirk, an officer named Jack Churchill made the only long bow kill of the war (to our knowledge). Jack Churchill is more commonly known as Mad Jack Churchill because he famously only used a great sword and a longbow during the whole war. He was even part of the Marines and accidentally ruined a surprise attack by making music with his bagpipe alerting the Nazis.

The fact that Paradox didn't sponsor this is a missed opportunity

Due to Winston's mishandling the Dunkirk operation I can see the press giving Churchill the mocking nickname of the Grand Old Duke of York

One thing overlooked is US carrier production. By 1945 35 Essex class carriers delivered plus 3 Midway class on thier way. Germany never learned the true value of naval air power.

The fact that this is more realistic than 99% of alternate history documentary made by professionals is ethier extremely impressive or depressing depending on who you ask

This is the best scenario ive seen covering ww2 in a long time primarily due to it not waving a magic wand and making historical figures go against what they'd normally do

The Germans would have replaced enigma after 12 years of war

2:07 Germany forgot to update hoi4

The important thing back in the day is that nukes needed planes and air superiority to transport, so with the Luftwaffe in a better state, it would be extremely hard to get the nukes through to the III reich.

Something doesn’t make sense to me: if Britain makes peace with Germany, wouldnt USA completely focus on Japan once Pearl Harbor happens? It took 3.5 years to defeat Japan while executing a “Europe first” plan. Wouldn’t USA fold Japan quicker and more decisively if not at war with Germany?

What if Zambia won the space race?

I hate how he pulls us back into reality, it's like being told a good story then sent off to work with being told "come back anytime for more"

My grandfather was one of the BEF who made it off the beach. all he ever said was he had to "join the que twice" as his first boat was hit by a stuka. its one of those moments in history that, if it went a different way, many people would never have been born. and i'm one of them.

My grandfather was one of those BEF men captured in the pocket. His column was surprised by Rommel and they fought a desperate action at St-Valery-en-Caux. Won the Legion d'Honneur for that, and the Krzyż Armii Krajowej for helping blow some bridges in Poland during his escape. Alexander Masterton.

Cologne would have been a terrible spot for a nuclear attack. Too far inland. Against an intact Luftwaffe, the bomber carrying the nuke could have been destroyed.

The “A tribute to the allies” section was surprisingly emotional, even as an American.

The sheer scale of the efforts made by people who either had no direct stake in the war, or who had already lost their homelands to facist occupation.

How easy it would have been for either of those groups to shrug and throw in the towel, and yet continued fighting tooth and nail for the liberation and defense of their common man.
