My parents had little money — my mom was a secretary and supported our family— but we lived 2 hrs from the beach and she would insist driving Sat morning to the beach at least one weekend during the summer, spending an overnight stay in a modest motel, inexpensive seafood restaurant, snacks in a cooler from home. Those are fond childhood memories for me.

George has the perfect personality to be on TV/Radio. He is the mini Dave with young sass.

It was 2010 we were deeply in debt near rock bottom when my wife found Dave on our local AM radio station..Dave Ramsey saved us from certain bankruptcy and got us on track.. My wife first and me reluctantly we flipped the script from being in debt to debt free baby step 1 to 7… Thank you again Dave and God Bless you!

My dad actually cleaned his riffles when each of my dates came to our house. My husband Mike was also one of my dad's victims, yet he married me anyway.
My dad and I have always had our annual dad-daughter date night. Soon after Mike and I were married, my dad came to our house to pick me up for that year's dad-daughter date night. Once dad was inside my home, there sits Mike in our Livingroom cleaning his rifle!! My dad cracked up! Mike and I have been married 37 years now and my dad still laughs about that dad-daughter date night!😂🤣

I have heard Dave refer to his wife Sharon many times, but this is the first I heard him call her "mom." So sweet that he did this when talking to Rachel.

No one talks about money as straightforward, decisive, and rationally as Dave. 😊👍

I am glad that all my children follow Dave's principles, and they're passing them onto my grandchildren. The three who have reached sixteen have all paid for their own cars in cash before or near their 16th birthdays. The oldest had 50% of her college tuition saved before high school graduation. Her parents will match it, so she will graduate from college debt free.
When I would babysit for a date night, they'd go for coffee and shop thrift stores. He even found a good suit to wear to his corporate office job at a thrift store. Another son remodeled and added on to his house. They shopped estate sales ....

I gotta say - taking your kids camping is the best gift ever. Some of my dearest memories as a child were the weeks spent camping with the family and sometimes other families together, swimming in a river and looking at the stars at night, no TV and mum reading us stories in the evening. Sometimes we could even take a friend. Or visiting family in the country and we the kids got to sleep in tents or bunk down with our cousins. As an adult I know these were more modest holidays expense-wise but the value is beyond compare. I wouldn't swap those memories and time slowing down with Mum and Dad for anything in the world. Go camping y'all!

I want to thank Dave for what he does. I stumbled onto Dave Ramsey about a year ago when I was looking for a good resource to help my kids learn personal finance. My dad lived the common sense principles he teaches and I learned them from watching my dad growing up. I lost my dad last September. It’s great to have a resource I can point my kids to and simply say “do this” when it comes to personal finance.

We followed Dave's principles for 30 years and life is very good in retirement. But it didn't happen magically - we worked at it. You can too.

Vacations, "Doing it right?" When our kids were young and we owned a business, vacations were some days tacked on after a business buying trip or convention. Money was tight, so we camped and did historical, themed, or nature trips and avoided most attractions. We also had the kids keep journals on these trips. We did long days in the car, followed by amazing cheap venues. If we hadn't done that, precious connections would not have been made. Our kids saw us working, and they saw us tuned into our surroundings. We budgeted for this but lived on a well trained shoestring budget to include it.
