The problem with a lot of TV shows is they don't know when to stop!!!!!

A mini-series like a Band of brothers or Chernobyl is the best balance of both. It gets a little deeper into the story then a movie, but doesn't over stay its welcome like a seasonal TV series.

Tarantino’s passion for film is almost contagious.

Me out here remembering every scene of Breaking Bad...

I love watching Joe not being able to get a word in with Quentin Tarantino.  Makes me laugh.

The problem with TV is that most don't know when to stop and unfortunately that is a fatal flaw built into that format. A film stands alone, even if it's part of a franchise.

The first season of True Detective plays out like an 8 part epic.  Ties in the past, to the present, to a new and unfolding plot - and resolves a massive mystery with two insanely detailed, complicated characters.  The Rust getting caught up in the biker gang jacking the guy's house...and how he gets out of the whole situation - epic story presentation!

This conversation is like my dinners with my italian family. Nobody can ever finish a sentence without someone cutting them off 😂

The likes are OVER 9000!

True Detective season 1 is another one that really hits, the ending was incredible.

TV is like the 1st and 2nd act of a movie if the 2nd act just kept reinventing itself over and over. For me what Quentin is saying is TV rarely writes a killer 3rd act (because they don’t want the money to end)- this deeply effects the overall structure. Good movies accomplish closure and that’s rare for a series.

There are a lot of shows greater than most movies ever made.

Sometimes in order to tell a story, 2-3 hours does not do justice and its good to have options like shows to cater towards all audiences.

No one is wired the same.

BREAKING NEWS: Movie Director likes movies more than TV shows

The problem with TV, even when it is “good”, is that the shows aren’t always written with the ending in mind. They keep going until they are canceled. A really good show should be a limited series with a clear story arc.

SUMMARIZED: Quentin is basically saying that shows show too much for too long. You can’t remember all dozens of characters they start to introduce 5 seasons down the line

MOVIES ON THE OTHERHAND- you introduce your characters, the plot is quickly established, the setting is set, and you know there is a build up that YOU KNOW will come to a finish.

Ultimately making movies a lot more rememorable and impactful because the audience is not being fed nonstop information for hours and hours and seasons and season on end.

I like both. But I understand where Quentin is coming from

24 was basically 24 1hr movies and the final of S1 is one of the greatest endings ever.

I think The Sopranos has still stayed with me all this time. I still go back to watching the show from time to time. Great show.

I met Tarantino at a Dunkirk screening (UK) and he's an awesome guy, very respectful and his mind is an amazing thing, I wish I could speak with him again

Its not just that most TV shows dont know when to stop, it that they are written without an ending in mind. Its like narrative purgatory. The best shows are the ones made with ending already decided and every episode is made to move towards that ending

I’m glad Tarantino stood on business, Rogan and his recent off kilter interruptions and shenanigans are going off the charts.
