Thank you for reacting to my suggestion ❤ Your reaction was top tier. Lots of love from South Africa 🇿🇦

I think I just found a new artist/group to take a dive down the rabbit hole for ❤

Edit: I've fallen down that hole and don't care if I don't get out 😅 this group is insane...

Vessel writes EVERYTHING but the percussion and drums. In the studio, its only him and II.

The lore is all analogy to toxic relationships and this song was the most personal vessel has ever gotten to what inspired it all

@jadOreMEii 4 months ago

One of the best songs ever written.

1:03 Mandela Effect! While many people remember this being the case, he was actually released from prison and became the President of South Africa. On THIS timeline, anyway!

Thanks for another brilliant reaction. Sleep Token are unbelievably good. The singer, Vessel, is the mastermind behind the lyrics, the music, and the majority of the instruments with the drummer II contributing on the drums/percussion.

It's all about the lyrics and Vessel's incredible voice for me. Obviously, the music is fantastic, but Vessel singing those words with so much emotion is perfection 👌 ❤

Gethsemane is where Jesus was betrayed and arrested before he was crucified I also noticed the cross being burned in the video not sure if it's a religious song or not. Regardless it was a great song❤ I think Gethsemane is pronounced Ga sem in knee😂

Ohhhhhh I been waiting for this ❤

Vessel, the singer writes all the lyrics and does all the instrumentation and vocals on the albums except for drums and percussion which is done by II the drummer. Smokey is very on point with his analysis, it’s about being in a toxic relationship with a narcissist and dealing with the consequences while covering it up with lore about the deity Sleep

In this case, Gethsemane is not so much a religious song as much as a religious metaphor. Drawing upon the reference to Jesus' betrayal in the title, Vessel explores the pain and frustration of betrayal through the lens of someone looking back at a relationship and seeing how truly one-sided it was. He loved someone so much that it hurt, and all he got in return was betrayal. This is his moment of realization and self-reflection. (I am not a Christian, but was raised Christian, and can still see the beauty in the poetry and stories in the Bible.)

Yes Smokey! The Lore was created as a bit of a 'smoke'screen to maintain his intimacy a bit, I think.

One day, music will be collaborative, willingly. It has been from the beginning, whether people want to admit it or not. Music has been the rearranging of sounds that have been here since the start. Make sense? Just stay authentic, regardless. Either way, thank you guys. ❤😊

'people say they shouldn't have a gimmick, they should stand on their talent' ...but. but that's exactly what they're doing? being anonymous literally makes it all about the music. they're not making it about themselves as artists. they're not trying to garner credit or approval as themselves. They don't want to be known for who they are, but for what they do. and it's working. that is the definition of standing on talent.

also, re: writing from lore v. personal life - being anonymous and having the lore lets Vessel write from his heart with a layer of protection. the songs can be broadly interpreted, rather than people going 'oh this must be about when ___ broke up with him.' he can write about deeply personal things without having to deal with public scrutiny, and fans can relate to the music on a more personal level because we can read it through the lens of our own experiences.

It's pronounced GETH (like Beth)-SEM (like Sim)-AN-NEE. 😂 It's not a common name but is biblical in reference. Vessel (singer/songwriter/composer) is a very intelligent person who is a modern day Shakespeare that puts poetic heartbreaking lyrics to some of the best music you'll ever hear. He literally is the best lyricist of modern times. I am not one to bawl my eyes out to just ANY song, but Vessel has made me UGLY cry on numerous occasions 😂. His lyrics along with the music just hits the soul. Truly a wonderful artist and II on the drums is the icing on top.
