You bring up some valuable points that I've been thinking about a lot lately. Wing choice being the obvious one and why and the difference between training (SIV) and the reality of conditions in the wild.

From my perspective it doesn't seem that SIV made any difference here. Once it got away with you properly you were at it's mercy

You showed good awareness checking your height and didn't fight the wing to the ground.

Thanks for the vulnerability and willingness to share. I'm sure this will help many pilots.

It's a good reminder to all of us to trust our instincts, fly for the right reasons, and to keep our skills sharp...because we can all get caught out if we're not 100% on it.

This has to be the best incident analysis that I've come across.  Glad you survived and are recognizing that a lower class wing isn't a bad thing.

It’s one of the best troubleshooting videos I’ve seen so far. No clickbait, just facts and insights. It makes it easy to understand the situation. Hard to see that the first reserve doesn't open. An explanation of an SIV trainer would be helpful, maybe.

I'm a pilot and really appreciate your honesty and focus on causes and learning. You are pretty hard on yourself, but we know as pilots that we are always 100% responsible for our own safety. Glad you are alright and no shame in flying a wonderful EN C wing!

I’m really glad you decided to share your analysis of this situation in such a professional, honest, and structured way , especially because I can imagine it was not an easy decision to make. You can genuinely feel how important and personal this topic was for you. I believe many pilots will take something valuable away from it, because every pilot knows how deeply situations like these can affect your mindset and make you question many things.

Excellent. I was talking to a friend about these things the other day. I was saying the advice about watching the wing and reacting to collapses is probably all very well if you are a test / comp pilot. But most of us will just watch it collapse in the real world. We only really react fast when we feel it in the brakes.

As always: Amazing work, Dmitry! I’ve been following you since early days then your Channel as Dymanoid, and I also really appreciate your answers on PGF. I think you probably don’t realise how much you contribute to our sport in terms of both joy and safety. I truly appreciate how much time and effort you invest in this.

About your accident:
- 7 years ago I was in a somewhat similar situation: “Vollzerstörer”, somehow hands up, then a shoot and twist. It also happened completely out of the blue, without any clear warning signs, with me reacting instead of anticipating. Afterwards, many people told me what I should have done differently… mostly classic sofa analysis. In real life, I think yours was hardly preventable or recoverable for a recreational pilot, even with very high airtime, especially once the situation escalated that quickly. Of course, in hindsight you can always identify theoretical mistakes, but reality is different. I believe there is an inherent risk of these kinds of incidents on any EN-class wing (with higher classes carrying higher risk), even for very experienced pilots with good risk management like you.
- I was astonished that you had done only one SIV on an EN-D, although I’m not even sure more SIVs would really have changed anything in this specific case. The surprise factor was probably the biggest issue?
- There were not many details about the actual crash and the harness. Do you think the Impress 4 protected you from more serious injuries? You were upside down, right? Was it mostly pure luck that you survived?
- Things are still very fresh now. I’d also be interested to hear whether your perspective and insights change over time. Mine definitely did a lot afterwards. Please keep us updated.

Amazing.. I always said that our accidents and incidents needs a investigation and a report for sport evolution and for increase the knowledgement and safety for all pilots... I already passed for a similar situation and say too that the surprise and g-force changes all our feelings, the SIVs can't reproduce this.. Incrible job.. thanks for this...
