Had the privilege of being in the direct audience to hear each of these Maestros,in my younger days.......Now at 75 yrs. young, after hearing instrumentals for 60 yrs, ALL Live programmes. now with a trained ear, the Peace and JOY is . certainly much more.
I first heard Bismillah Khan and Vilayet Khan in 1974 as a 20 yr old boy in Santa Barbara California..I got immediately addicted to that album 'Duets from India' ... I didn't have access to more of his albums and there was no internet then.. Now at 70, i listen to them frequently..
U.S. Bismillah Khan and U.S. Vilayat Khan duet/Jugulbundi sitar and shahnai Dr Qayum Belal introduced the sparkles of Eastern Serenity with exuberance! There is beauty in the melodic sounds. Sublime & Heartfelt!
i have an observation that whenever the king of sitar meets king of sarod or king of shehnai, his usually good performance touches greatness. Not so with his sons.
The beauty of this jugalbandhi is in its simplicity and mutual admiration that each artist has for the other. Each artist wants to listen to the other play and gets inspiration from it. The phrases are so interwoven between the two that one plays an imaginative set of notes and leaves it to the other to take it from there.
Pronaam to these maestros ...lost in paradise, no word to say, there is nothing more beautiful in this earth than listening this audio...ahh! feeling blessed....Thanks and regards to Dr. Qayum Belal
Many Thanks Dr. Bilal for uploading such beautiful JUGALBANDI ..of Bismillah khan and Vilayat khan. ..no words I have to praise this melodious...soothing......
