Would you move to North Dakota?

Nobody lives in North Dakota? Sounds like the place for me.

Fun fact: people from Alberta move to North Dakota for the weather.

I live in North Dakota and love it

I grew up in North Dakota, and much of my immediate family still lives there. The wind and winters definitely can really suck, but the rest of the year it's really nice. I also like that it doesn't advertise itself, and it's just a decent place to live if you can deal with the weather. If I had really fast Internet, and they work from home job, I'd consider living there again.

5: Vicious cycle of cold, empty, flat

I was sentenced to 4 years in ND by the USAF in 1976.  Not knowing any better, I went to NDSU for an additional 5 years.  I then gave my snow shovel to a neighbor, relocated to FL and haven't gone back since.
The native NoDaks are great people.  Friendly, always ready to give a hand.  But, BOY!, are those winters brutal!

It seems like every day now in the news you read about "teen takeovers" where mobs loot the convenience stores, assault people on the streets, drive stolen cars like a real-life version of Grand Theft Auto and occasionally shoot into the crowds. That doesn't happen in North Dakota.

I lived in North Dakota during the pandemic, and I credit that decision for not dying, due to the isolation.

I was born in Stanley and grew up in Parshall.   Growing up in North Dakota gives you a solid base to go confidently forward in all you do.  I treasure my roots but don’t miss the bitter cold.

My in-laws live in Winnipeg, which is just to the North of North Dakota. Back before things got a little nutty between the US and Canada last year,  it was common for Manitobans to make a 3 day weekend trip to big, bustling Grand Forks jut before school started in September to shop at the local mall and Target stores for things they either can’t get in Manitoba, or because they cost maybe 40% less.
For them, Grand Forks was the place to go!

Look at the stars in ND on a cold, clear winter night, above a wide open land and you'll realize just how unimportant bright lights and entertainment really are.

I lived in north dakota for 11 years and loved it. Yes its cold but so is MN and Wi. I am in WI now and liked ND better

Fargo is a massively underrated city and this video is proof.

I'm from Montana and have cousins over in Sawyer ND. They are the greatest, my twin brother and I would help them out every summer buck hay and they would do the same at our ranch. Great people in North Dakota!

I've lived in North Dakota all my life and I thank you for spreading this message if he keeps as many people as possible from coming here we are a lot better off

On a road trip I stopped for breakfast at a cafe in a small town in South Dakota and heard a lot of jokes about North Dakota being Canada’s Mexico.

Was stationed in Minot for two years on my first enlistment.  Not exactly what I had in mind as a young man who wanted to see the world.  

But made the best of it:  Investigated the history of ND and visited battlefield sites, spent a lot of time on Lake Sakakawea, and explored Theodore Roosevelt National Park often.  

Acquired my private pilot's license and began taking classes at Minot State and completed degrees later in life.  Began a lifelong weightlifting hobby.  

Traveled to Canada often (back then the border-crossing process was exchanging a smile and wave as you drove across) and even spent one Christmas with a family in North Battleford.  The Canadian people were wonderful.

As were the North Dakotans.  They still have that pioneer spirit that built the country; they're of hardy stock.  They're generally quiet and reserved and may take a while in getting to know them.  It helps if you're respectful, listen more than you talk, and be complimentary.  They know the winters are tough, you don't have to go on about how much "winter sucks".  Before you know it, you'll be hunting, ice fishing, and going to hockey games with them - really enjoying yourself.

I've not been back since 1991 but now that I'm about to retire it's begun to appeal.  With society collapsing and people behaving like savages everywhere you go the notion of spending the golden years in a place where people are still civil and decent and crime is practically nonexistent sounds pretty nice.

North Dakotans are made of stronger stuff💪🏾💪🏾
