News24 published a fact check of Crossed Out, the Lex Libertas film on farm attacks directed by Ernst Roets and Pierre Malan, and found familiar claims with little new evidence. What was that fact check for? Was it written to test the film, or to discredit it?
In this video I go through the article and the film side by side. I look at what News24 checked, what it left out, and what the people in the film said on camera. I also look at where a speaker in the film got it wrong, and whether that is enough to dismiss close to 90 minutes of testimony.
Then I ask what the media could have put to the government about rural safety. Watch the full video for the detail, and tell me in the comments who should decide whether a community is being persecuted: the people living through it or the people writing about it.
