Being  a  Ford  boy  at  59  as of
NOVEMBER   , i grew  up  watching my  Ford  Hero  .
Allan  was the same age as my father  , my  father passed with  Dementia   11 / 11  / 17  .
Allan  was a Scorpio   like  me  , he
Was a tactician  ,  he  hid emotional
Pain   with  witt   and humour   .
I raced   an XT   in speedway   early
To mid  90s   , it gave me a taste  of  racing those glorious   early
Falcons   and yes  like  Allan  i would read and feel  the car   and the car  would respond  to my
Actions  .

The book totally changed my perspection of the guy reading that book .

Allan Moffat was the first professional racing driver in Australia and the first to get sponsorship outside of the motor industry with Coca Cola supporting his Mustang. Initially not a fan until I saw him score wins at Sandown in 1973, where his speed from his silky smooth driving style was clearly obvious. When Ford largely pulled out of racing, Moffat still was there because he was good, he got sponsorship because he was good, he scored victories and he gave his sponsors value for money (during a race at Bathurst, how's the Falcon going? It's going like a Pan-Am jet mate, and once more his sense of humour - who didn't hear that and laugh). Later Moffat had success with Mazda, which was legalised in part through lobbying from Peter Brock who wanted the competition, the television audiences and everything else that would come from having Allan Moffat there. Those from that era who saw him and followed his career won''t ever forget him.

A Visionary, a Champion, a Legend and a Gentleman!  I’ve followed Allan Moffat since I was nine years old, I.m now 65.  Lucky enough to have spoken with him many times over the years, always friendly & engaging toward myself & my sons.  Rest easy Racer….!

He did have a dry wit! I saw a live cross from Brock's commodore to the commentary box while Moff was commentating, Brock was telling them he was having to drive with one hand only because the gear leaver was jumping out of gear all the time! Without missing a beat Moff says "I hear you're good with just one hand Brocky" Classic!

I said this in another channel. Alan would have been very upset when his friend, Peter B had his fatal crash in WA.

I met Allan at a Tyre  place in Toukley NSW. Lots of men with lots of models for him to sign and sell.

I stood back, patiently with my one photo for him to sign, the Camel Hardtop. I was 18 at the time.

He ignored the big boys and their toys, came straight over to me and asked where i got the photo, as he hadn't seen that one before. Had a good 10 min conversation with him.

I'll never forget that.

He saw a genuine person a mile away.

My parents had a Ford in the early 70's & I was a Moffat fan, then my parents bought a Holden & I became a Brock fan.

What a good man and he will aways be good mate

The Mazda was one of the greatest ventures in touring car racing imo. Iconic car and to see and compare it to V8a and 4 cylinder turbos was as good as it gets.

Can hear his mind was starting to go a bit.

What a ridiculous portrayal of him in that  " Brock" mini series.

Moffitt made the Holden Ford battles so much better
