John Entwistle's Bass Guitar Collection.
A segment from John Entwistle of The Who in a personal and in-depth interview at his home in Quarwood, Cotswolds UK. This cherished home was the last before his untimely death, and both the physical space, and the documentary made in its honour, capture John's charisma, humour, and passion for his unique style of playing. He shows his unique collection of rare guitars to interviewer, friend & fellow guitarist Gordon Giltrap.
John Alec Entwistle (1944 - 2002) was an English musician, best known as the bass guitarist for the rock band the Who. Entwistle's music career spanned over four decades. Nicknamed "The Ox" and "Thunderfingers", he was the band's only member with formal musical training and also provided backing and occasional lead vocals. Entwistle was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Who in 1990.
Renowned for his musical abilities, Entwistle is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential rock bass guitarists of all time. His instrumental approach utilized pentatonic lead lines and a then-unusual treble-rich sound ("full treble, full volume"). He was voted as the greatest bass guitar player ever in a 2011 Rolling Stone readers' poll and, in 2020, the same magazine ranked him number three in its list of the "50 Greatest Bassists of All Time".

- proceeds to smack guitar's headstock against a shelf... twice
Can the interviewer hold a guitar without thwacking it in the first 5 seconds?
Entwistle has the body language of a homeowner waiting for double glazing salesman to leave asap.
Classic and unorthodox arpeggios up and down from notes other than the tonic of a chord. Learning lead guitar from his notes is a great intro into Bach and Counterpoint...trully a lead guitarist on Bass....Rocking out to the max..❤😂🎉😢😮😅😊❤
