Having had YouTube premium for years and not seeing any ads since 2019, I had no clue how bad the AI ads were getting until I paused my membership and it ran out a couple days ago….holy crap it’s every Ad that is AI generated now even for big brands.

man that's hard for the actors....my wife still prefers watching real actors on her Chinese short dramas and is subscribed to multiple short drama apps

It is not only that AI has taken their jobs. At the same time, people do not watch movies or series so much anymore. TV sales are also down. And many people do not even turn on the TV at home anymore.

AI doesn’t need a paycheck, it doesn’t call out sick or cause a scandal.

AI dramas are getting more humanlike now, imagine the quality in a few more years. I feel bad for these actors.

My mom loves the AI chinese dramas. these actors are screwed.

Justice for Yu Menglong!  Justice for those who perished in the fires of the seven towers in Hong Kong!  Is Chinese actress, Chen Duling safe?

Feel sad for the actors,

This hits home because my friends are over there and telling me this as well. They aren't Chinese, but foreigners living in China. Before, they were making really good money as actors and actresses, but now they have a hard time getting many gigs because of AI. It doesn't completely replace them, but their workloads have been shortened by a lot. They used to get too many offers, but now are getting very few offers for work.

In an industry filled with entitlement and unreasonable salary demands, you really can't understand why AI? No temper tantrums,  crazy agents, fights for creative control, etc.

Sometimes, it’s the same drama remake again every year.

It is not only AI that is taking the jobs.  It is also LESS VIEWERS.  In this economy , many people are working two jobs.   Some people study and have a job.
NO TIME to watch TV, NO time to watch movies, or series.  If there is time, then it is less and less time.   Poverty means you have less time to do things

Whatever happened to putting money aside for a rainy day? Even in China, these actors made enough money to retire if they didn't p*ss it all away on fancy cars and ego boosts.

Mostly because they have a government that does not care about the people at all…

movie and cinema industry has gone into shit anyway, less and less people watch modern crap. SO they would lose job some time.

Jackie Chan no longer needs stunt doubles.

It's ironic because China was the country that invested the most heavily in AI use for generating movie scenes. But they ended up replacing their own Chinese actors and hurting their own country.

no matter how AI quality cannot compare with actual/real actors quality.

For most of human history, acting was not a living that anyone but a handful of court fools and players could engage in -- and their life wasn't good.  Certainly not glamorous.  Life is returning to normal.

There is no way China has MILLIONS of actors. Millions
