July 1890. The wife of his old army friend, Colonel Harold Warburton, comes to see Dr. Watson. He had recently claimed to be suffering from bouts of madness, then voluntarily committed himself to a private asylum, forbidding visits. Watson remembers the colonel as a remarkably sane man and is incredulous at such a sudden change. A charred scrap of letter and a sprig of myrtle become the first clues that Sherlock Holmes follows in his investigation. The road leads to a secret establishment in Surrey, where decisions are made suspiciously quickly and answers are kept under lock and key. To understand what truly frightens the colonel, Holmes and Watson will have to risk more than their careful observation usually allows. _________________
