GTA VI before AC Evo freeroam

I lost it when he said 'no progression system or ingame economy will stay in the way of your freedom' lol -Michel

The correct term Jimmy is gaslighting. They are gaslighting us about the thing they took away. Not even a sorry or anything, just a flat out "Actually we improved it by taking the thing away we sold you on."

fell for it again award

i feel like everything i bought the game for, is legit being denied and theyre gaslighting me, hoping ill just shut up and be happy with nothing.

Kunos really managed to present having no Free Roam features, Career mode or progression system as a positive, basically saying players should just figure out how to make the game fun themselves. Meanwhile, they’re celebrating their new studio and showing of their succes. Giving players less than what was promised and framing it as a benefit is certainly bold.

I just want Gran Turismo style game with meaningful progression, why nobody can do that suddenly? Even GT cannot do that... Its either ultra "hardcore" sim racing or just dopamine hit with lootboxes free roams that gives you everything for free.

I feel like they just need to publicly admit that they've bitten off way more than they can chew here. Whatever they actually do, trying to play it off as "actually its really good that we've done this" is not working

Its okay guys.

They took features from the game and they want to dripfeed freeroam

But at least their office is super nice now.

Thanks Kunos.

its really stupid that them removing these promised features somehow still doesn't make them work any faster

I was sold a Forza horizon game that had realistic cars, that allowed me to start in a VW gulf and race and do things to slowly get new cars, do better lap times etc. Now its just yet another time attack racer. I dont have a wheel, I dont have a racing rig, I have no reason or will to be competetive online. The thing that they said would "hold me back" and "limit" me, is the only thing I wanted.

Oh boy is AC Evo the Star Citizen of the driving sim space?

"coming in stages" - code for "there will be 2000 content packs, each of one which will be paid DLC.

I personally lost all my excitement for Evo after they scrapped the economy, academy, activities, and car personalization. Yeah, it is essentially a completely different game compared to what they sold us. And the aduacity of Massarutto coming and acting like they did it for us is the cherry on the top of the cake.

My thoughts: I bought the game as soon as it was possible because I like Kunos and wanted to support them. Tried it quickly and thought, hey, I'll come back when freeroam is available. And here I am, almost 16 months later, with 37 minutes of playtime.

The comments under the official video are why studios can get away with anything 🤦

AC Evo is another great example in the list of games that prove you shouldn't buy games until you have seen actual evidence that they're going to hold themselves to the promises they've made

Every time I hear about EVO, I feel like they lose more and more of their vision and seem to have none left. I'm happy I didn't buy into early access.

One of the things that really bothers me about the majority sim racing guys who are basically saying 'I hate anything even semi close to arcade so killing the economy and progression is a good thing for me' is that if they simply left it be then I would have accepted it. But this keynote, more then anything, felt like an exercise in gaslighting and more importantly conflating progression and economy as inherently restrictive, when it really isn't. If anything, it would give the game more of a point if it had say, an online world where you could just get into the car and drive (even an offline one!) and the main world where such factors are presented. Because as it stands now, the biggest thing about EVO is...what is the point? A sim racing game ultimately needs a niche that it can hang on. The original AC has long been a jack of all trades and a sandbox for whatever you want it to be. EVO is...the exact same thing except free-roam being supported from the jump. Okay? Why should I buy into it now, when the original AC goes on sale for dirt cheap often enough, and the game is advanced enough that some of these features can probably be backported into the original AC and kneecap the game then.

It's hard not to look at this announcement with some time to think about it and not feel like this is Kunos learning lessons from modern Bethesda development: aka letting the community do most of the hard lifting and basically presenting an open sandbox for people to play and create in. In a vacuum that's fine, and in the case of Kunos that might even be preferable considering how good they are at doing that, but if I am someone who is not anywhere close to in the weeds as Jimmer or most of the people commenting on this video, why should I buy the game if there's ultimately no point, no driving force to continue playing the game for more then an hour other then 'racing, your way' ? Especially knowing that the base version of AC that you got on consoles was pathetic in terms of content out of the box, and Kunos being uniformly terrible at AI racing (which has remained an issue with EVO to this day that I doubt will even be attempted to be fixed)

I think it was a comment on Overtake that really crystalized things for me: Kunos is ultimately good at providing an open sandbox that is modular, and really, simulating things. But when it comes to actually providing a game that people, especially beginners but even hardcore sim racing fans can ultimately buy into and not ask 'what's the point' they get destroyed by their partner studios who do inherently know how to create a game that fulfills a specific niche, and ultimately play like a game. ACC and AC Rally I can buy into now and not feel like I'm wasting my time both trying to get my money's worth, but also don't feel like I have to pretzel myself into finding an ultimate point for. AC EVO, on the other hand, has had no real point to differentiate itself from the original game heavily modded since they canned the economy and progression, and by this point, I might as well stay with AC Evoluzione because that provides the economy and progression, and it's made by one guy! What excuse does Kunos have at this point?

the italian in them can't allow the concept of free roam and a separate career mode. "it must be together and work together!"
